The Over Consumption of Fast Foods
Fast foods are a quick solution to dinner, but what you are putting into your body can become fatal over time. Most families are rushed with their jobs, school, and families on vacation not wanting to stop in a town and other activities; therefore, fast food relieves stress on the parents because they do not have to take time to cook. Some people just like the taste. The oil that the fast foods are cooked in contains msg, which makes a person crave the items they desire. After time, a craving becomes a want and progressively becomes a “need”. After the need is established, then it becomes a habit. Consumption of fast foods will become an addiction. This is the point in which the problems set in. Fast foods are convenient, satisfying, and economical, but over consumption can lead to health problems and environmental problems.
The health problems that come along with the overconsumption of fast foods can ultimately lead to death. Many of the fast food restaurants “promote” obesity. As long as the industry gets their money they don’t care about the consumer’s health. Many fast food industries sell larger orders for just cents more, which is more consumption and calorie intake. This causes fattening. The over consumption of the larger orders is more than your body can process, which causes your body to store it as fat cells. This causes weight gain. When constantly eating of fast foods, over time it causes weight gain, then leads to obesity. “Obesity and overweight now affect more than 50 percent of adult Americans. Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, heart disease, gallbladder disease, and some forms of cancer result from obesity” (Obesity 1). There very high levels of sodium in fast foods. High sodium intake can cause high blood pressure, which can lead to heart attacks. “[H]igh levels of sodium may cause confusion, anxiety, edema, nausea, vomiting, restlessness, weakness, and loss of potassium and calcium”...
