The way we dress says a lot about our personality. It can reflect our lifestyle, it can show our music taste etc,. A good appearance can favor our popularity and it can even improve our self-esteem. However, does the way we look really reflect our personality? And if we aren’t consistent in our style, does it make us different people?
On the one hand, when we don’t know someone we automatically judge someone just by their appearance. A wise person once said: “You never get a second chance to make a first impression.” We make up an opinion about the person and most of the time we can say whether someone is nice or not. This opinion can be true, but it can also be harmful when we think it’s a prejudgment.
On the other hand, you can’t judge a book by its cover. The same as with persons. Wearing a black jacket with spikes will not turn someone to a gothic, and wearing old-fashioned clothes will not turn someone in a grandparent. Everyone has to develop their style during life because that will make us unique.
In summary, we have to give the people around us an idea of who we are so we just have to be ourselves and mirror our personality in the way we dress. There is nothing wrong with not being consistent in our style, but we have to be sure that our appearance is the ‘real’ us.

Let us first start off with some good examples of Physical Appearances and Artifacts, or the personal objects we use to announce our identities, interests and backgrounds. Our appearance includes everything from our body type to our hair style to our skin color to eye color to height. (Orbe & Bruess, 2005) We have five characters, all representing a possible cliques in high school.
