Introduction
This report is written to describe the understanding on organisational leadership in my previous and current work. Further to this I will also comments, demonstrate and give out concepts or ideas on organisational leadership that I have learned and experience in organisational behaviour course and how it has impacted my life as a whole.
Leadership Reasoning and Problems
In my career I have work with all sorts of bosses from a wide variety of background. Most of them are from an international background ranging from Australia, India, Hong Kong, England and last but not least Malaysia. Some of them give me a huge impact while others just your average Joe. I do converse a lot to my previous bosses and we still remain good friends till today. Aside from work I always ask them, why is it so hard to be a good and effective leader, and I have so many different reasons due to complexity of business nowadays. Most of the time they talk about how difficult life in business is today prior to ‘good old days’ where previously they have a set agreed common business objective and aligned this with their direct reports and this will flow down to the rest of the organisation. Thinking about this again doesn’t this is how most organisation work? So how could it be different from before?
Most of the time I do not received any satisfying answers, this is due to I cannot relate most of it to myself. How can I be an effective leader? Or can I become a great leader? Most of the books that I’ve read and by deducing the contents I’ve summarise that a good or a great leader is someone who inspire you to show up every morning and do your best possible work, someone who made you belief if yourself, genuinely care about your success and someone who you wanted to follow willingly. This is repeated several times from John Kotter to Robin Sharma and many more leadership authors out there.
