Most of our customers are employees from an automotive support industry who just announced they are relocating to Mexico. The relocation of this company will hinder our sales as well as our organization. My goal is to analyze the challenges our organization will face using OD principles and how would I apply OD principles in order to ensure the continued operation of my company. When a company is faced with this type of challenge, finding resolutions to withstand the drastic affects is of top priority. Organizational development often refers to an organizations future readiness to meet change. Plant Manager, Tom Harris greeted everyone by name when he walked through the plant and as far as one could tell, it seemed to be business as usual at DuPont. Most recently, Orion, a DuPont manufacturing operation had been closed, the equipment dismantled and sent to China, but there were no particular concerns regarding this change. When Tom contacted the University of Virginia, he was not looking to solve any particular problem; rather he sought to gather information that would help improve the overall effectiveness of the organization. This was important to him because he was being pressured to do more with less. Tom’s interest was in introducing new ideas to his managers and applying those ideas to improving the plant, change management was not a framework used to explain or accomplish anything. The consultant spent six months interviewing employees and observing the work environment. DuPont’s approach to change very much fits the classic model of OD.…

Organizational Development (OD) has become more and more important for today’s organizations because the world is moving so fast that organizations have to find ways to be more effective, more innovation, more customer-driven, and more agile. Cumming and Worley (1997) define organizational development as “a process that applies a broad range of behaviour science knowledge and practices to help organizations build their capacity to change and to achieve greater effectiveness”. Therefore, OD will help organizations understand how people act to change and which change methods can work with the resistance to change that usually occurs in organizations undergoing change. In the study of organizational development, it is important to study Organizational Intervention & Change Implementation in order to know how to operate and make use of change methods that seem to be vital in solving any problems that arise. Organizational change is an important part of organizational management and leaders cannot ignore the inevitability of having to manage change within their organizations. In addition, a global study that was conducted with over 2,000 organizations showed that 82 percent had implemented major information system change, which entailed other changes in structure, technology, and people as well (Robbins &ump; Coulter, 2007). Therefore, it is imperative that managers and organizations understand how to increase their chances of having successful change programs.…
