Organizational Culture and Behavior
According to Kulkarni, Organizational culture refers to the values of an organization as a whole. These underlying values are constant with all employees without any prejudice. An organization’s culture is the foundation of the behaviors and reactions that are manifested by the way people perform their tasks in that organization. It is hard to develop an organizational culture because it is hard to imbibe assumptions and beliefs in the employees because it takes time. However, once they match with these, they impact the values of the employees. It is the management’s responsibility to create an organizational culture by means of the way they manage and lead the staff in the organization. A harmonious relationship that fosters teamwork and efficiency can greatly help in creating a good culture in organizations.
Both behavior and organizational culture are related to each other as they influence each other. Managers study how their employees behave in the organization and how they respond to stimuli. They need to understand their employees’ behaviors, the reasons they behave that way, and also to find ways to help them improve so that they can develop their full potential and as a result, they can become more productive individuals for the organization.
