Chapter 1: INTRODUCTION

NEED & SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
Organization is one of the inevitable parts of business & management. Organization study is to familiarize with the industry and attain an experience of the functioning of the organization. It provides a chance to interact with the different department and authorities in the organization. The academic curriculum provides only an outline view about the theoretical aspects of management and other related functions implemented in a company. This organization study was conducted as part of the second semester MBA curriculum in one of the major footwear industries, Lunar Rubbers Private Limited situated in Thodupuzha, Kerala.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
* To have an overall study of the company and to familiarize with its various functions.  * To understand the organization structure and processes in a practical setting.  * To get an idea about how different functional departments are structured and how each one of them operate.  * To know how the key business processes are being carried out in a manufacturing firm.  * To have first hand information about the various policies and programmes of the firm.  * To provide an opportunity to analyse real life problems and apply the concepts and theory learnt in the class room. * To have an idea about the products of the company.

* To understand the skill and qualities needed for the MBA professionals

SCOPE OF THE STUDY
The academic curriculum provides only about the theoretical aspects of management and other related functions implemented in a company. But this organisation study help to understand the practical applicability of theories studied in the class room. This helps to narrow the gap between the classroom and real business situation. It also provides an Industrial exposure. The study was mainly conducted to understand the functions, processes and procedures of different departments of the company and to find out and analyse the time management and internal communication in an organisation.

METHODOLOGY
This study was a descriptive study conducted mainly to familiarise with the activities, processes, policies, programmes and procedures followed in the firm. Required data for the study was collected through monitoring and interrogation. The study is made by visiting the company at Thodupuzha. The data were collected through primary method and secondary method. * Primary data:

Primary data are those data which primarily collected by the researcher himself .In this study primary data sources are interviews and observation method. Data are collected by the interview with MD Mr. Issac Joseph and supervisors of the organisation and also from our experience and observation at the time of study. * Secondary data :
