Organ Transplant

Science has developed in leaps and bounces over the last few centuries. There are cure for almost all the known diseases barring few exceptions and one of the boon of the present day medical science is the organ transplant, where a donor's organ is transplanted to the patient's body. With exception of organ rejection, this method can save lives of thousands of people who would have died if their organs were not replaced. Even though the organ donation is for good cause not everyone is ready to donate their organs and these days hundreds of thousands of people are waiting for their organs to be replaced only because of shortage of organ donors.
According to the author, roughly 60,000 people are in waiting list for organ transplant while the numbers of donor is just the fraction of that. Some people have medical conditions that prevent them form donating organs, while other have religious beliefs against the organ donation. Strangely, those who do not donate for religious reasons seem not concern about religion when they are on the receiving end. So, its clearly the lack of incentive for the organ donation that is stopping people from donating their body parts.
One of the possible solution is to pay the donor in some way, directly or indirectly. For example, the patient can cover the funeral cost of the dying patient or donate other resources to the family of the dying patient. Either way its beneficial for both parties, but people seem to have moral issues about “selling organs”. So, the only other way as the writer suggest is to make the rule that only the donor can receive the organs from other patients. People have managed to pull of amazing feats when their life is on line hence having to donate organ is not a big thing to ask. On the other hand, same people have been ignoring the simplest of rules if the law is not enforced or there is no rule.
