Whether you are rich or poor, men or women and we are all the same inside.  We have 2 kidneys, 2 lungs and 1 heart.  However, imagine you have to wait for something you really need. And it came down to life or death may I asked how do you feel? Well, my cousin/Emily was 3 years old when she found out she needed a new kidney.  She went on the organ waiting list right away. She was called once during a six month time period that the hospital had a kidney available but only to find out that it is a good match.  Unfortunately, it is not a good match. After 13months waiting and she finally got a good match.  This story had a happy ending but so many are not. Today I’d like to talk to you about first, the need for organ donors in our area, second, how you can become an organ donor after you die, and finally, how your family and organ donor recipients benefit from your donation. I.  People around the world but also right here in California and around the States need organ transplants and they need our help. A.  The problem is that there is a lack of organs and organ donors who make organ transplantation possible. 1. The need is many organs such as the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and etc. 2. Each day, an average of 75 people received organ transplants.  However, an average of 20 people dies each day waiting for transplants that can’t take place because of shortage of donated organs. a. According to orgondonor.gov.  The problem is that 20 people will die each day waiting for an organ transplant according to data from Organ donor website. b. The reason is only 5% of the donors had been registered.  Where the candidate that waiting for the organ donors are 110,582.
