Orange Beach

A place I have always been fond of is the beach, particularly Orange Beach, Alabama. The beach is the ultimate cure to all of my problems.   As I lay relaxing on the reclining beach chairs facing the ocean, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore is as calming as a lullaby to a baby.   In the background are the sounds of children playing near the water’s edge they race away from the shoreline as the water chases them inland.   They laugh and there is excitement in their voices as they attempt to build sand castles and bury family members in the sand using red and blue shovels.   As I gaze out into the ocean, I am able to appreciate the beauty of the turquoise waters rushing toward me.   Each wave teases me as it rolls into the shore, threatening to come closer with every rolling wave.   There are boats rocking to and fro in the distance.   I am hypnotized by the blueness of the outstretched sky which has clouds that are constantly changes shapes.   Behind me are rows of condominiums forming a barricade against the rest of the world.   They keep the beach isolated in its own cocoon.   There are people wearing brightly colored-swim suits and strolling along the shore; letting the cooling waves of the ocean roll over their bare feet.   I see a rainbow of beach towels lining the sandy beach.   The sand feels warm as it envelopes my sinking feet into its glistening white depths.   I wiggle my toes, enjoying the grainy roughness of it as it sticks to my feet.   I can feel the soft ocean breeze as it crosses my skin.   The sun beats down on my body which drinks in the rays with the scent of coconut tanning lotion emanating from my skin.   The soothing atmosphere of the beach encircles me and soothes my restless soul like a hug from my grandmother.
