Oprah Winfrey was responsible for planning, managing and producing every episode. Her planning capabilities as a manger are remarkable. She was responsible for setting the primary objectives of each show, which included the topic of each show, the production of each episode, the selection of guests, and hosting each show. Her proper planning strategies and astonishing decision-making abilities brought her national recognition. In 1988, only 4 years after she hosted her first show on national television, she established Harpo Studios, making her the third woman in American entertainment industry, after Mary Pickford and Lucille Ball, to own her own studio (Harpo Productions Inc., 2011, para 2). Her show remained the highest-rated talk show for 24 seasons. Oprah Winfrey is widely known for her famous giveaway shows. She would often surprise the members of the audience by organizing giveaway episodes that essentially gave attendees gifts ranging from books and beauty products to vacations, cars and even homes. Oprah was responsible for organizing these giveaways, which included delegating teams and assigning staff members to handle various tasks, collaboratively working with her finance team to assure proper budget allocation, partnering with corporate sponsors to integrate their products and services in the giveaways, and organizing the production of show.
