Task1.1 – Importance of Operations Management to the success of business (McDonald’s) Operations management refers to the activities, decisions and responsibilities of managing the resources which are dedicated to the production and delivery of products and services. Operations management exists in very organization and is very important in business operations since it forms the heart of the organisation by controlling the system of operation. Operations management is one of the three core functions of an organization, and the other two are marketing and finance. In an organisation, operations management and supply chains are linked and they are vital to the existence of business. McDonald's Corporation is the world's largest chain of fast-food restaurants. The business began in 1940, with a restaurant opened by siblings Dick and Mac McDonald in San Bernardino, California. Their introduction of the "Speedee Service System" in 1948established the principles of the modern fast-food restaurant.
