Botanical Garden

Botanical Garden is the best garden ever known in India and is one of the popular tourist attractions in Ooty. It is located on the hillock which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. Covering an extensive area of 55 acres, the Botanical Gardens in Ooty was laid way back in the year 1847 by the Marquis of Twee dale on the lower slopes of the Dodabetta Peak. It is indeed a pleasure to stroll in the lush green lawns of the garden and admire the stunning variety of flowers, ferns and orchids.

The Botanical Garden in Ooty is home to many rare species of trees. Particularly mention worthy among them are the cork tree, the paper bark tree, the monkey puzzle tree and an old fossilized tree that is about 20 million year old. The cork tree is the only one of its kind in the whole of the country. The monkey puzzle tree has been named so because even monkeys fail to climb it. Botanical Garden has been lovers point and has been appreciated by all kinds of people alike. During summer there are several programs organized by the local crowd so as to attract the tourists to visit the place. Deer Park

Deer Park is another one of the popular places to visit in Ooty. area’s pleasant nature spots where tourits can enjoy a rich collection of flora and fauna along with loads of deer’s. Deer Park is located about a kilometer from Ooty Lake. Doddabetta Peak

Doddabetta Peak is 2,623 meters making it the highest point of the district. It is located at a distance of about 10 km from the main town and offers an unbelievably beautiful view of the surrounding topography. Simply grab your camera and head straight to the peak, and click amazing pictures of the valley below. It is a wonderful place for shooting and capturing nature's scenic beauty in the camera and forecast it to the people all around the globe. The hilly regions of Mysore and the open plain lands too can be easily captured in the camera and it is the best place to take a shot. There is a telescope house that is run by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation in the Doddabetta Peak to enable the tourist to get a better view. Government Museum

Government Museum is a must visit for anyone with an interest in the history of the Nilgiris district. Setup in 1989, Government Museum houses some tribal objects, sculptures, arts and crafts and ecological details of the district. This museum is one of the major tourist attractions of Ooty that attracts tourists from all over the world. Kalhatty Waterfalls

Kalhatty waterfalls are about 100 feet in height and are located on the Kalhatty slopes. Kalhatty falls are about 13kms from the city. Other than the waterfalls, you can also explore the Kalhatty-Masinagudi slope that houses many wild species like panthers, sambhar, bison and wild buffaloes. Kamraj Sagar Lake

Located in the suburbs of Ooty, Kamraj Sagar Lake is actually a dam. There is a wide variety of herbs and shrubs available in the territory. Several good movies are shot in the neighborhood on the open roads and on the slopes of the Wendlock sagar. The water here is highly cold and one can have good experience fishing in the place. Kandal Cross

Kandal Cross is Roman Catholic Church located in Nilgiri and considered to be the Holy Shrine of the place. Kandal Cross is well known for the wishes of people coming true. This church is known for curing the ill, blessing the people and wishes coming true. It's a great pilgrim place where sacred prayers are always offered on Friday evening. Ketty Valley

As the name suggests, Ketti Valley is a valley which stays to be 7000 feet deep inside the mountains near Coonoor. This idyllic spot is a cluster of tiny Villages that extend to the plains of Coimbatore and Mysore plateau.
