ELEMENTS OF NARRATIVE.

*Characters. *Setting. * Style. *Theme.

 Time, place, people.

CHARACTERISTICS. * Unity * Small number of characters.

*Complications. * Limited setting.  Problems / rising tensions. *Reduced time frame. *Climax. Conclusion. * Resolution.  Possible surprise as problem is solved.

CHARACTERISTICS. Unity Reduced, concentrated form of writing.... SO every detail must contribute to the unity
of the story. (Also with Poetry.] No room for unnecessary detail  every word, sentence, paragraph must help to create the overall unity of the story. Limited setting.... the writer can concentrate on the plot without having to describe new settings. Others may only be mentioned without detail. Reduced time frame.... Too concentrated to allow large shifts of time. Compressed to short period for narrative to develop quickly and easily.
