In “TV’s Negative Influence on Kids Reaffirmed” by Jeffery M. McCall, he claims that too much television is unhealthy for children. McCall states that children are more likely to be sexually active, violent, and socially impaired. The author claims that television not only negatively affects children, it also prevents children form doing productive activities such as doing homework, participating in sports, and reading. Even though all TV manufactures include v-chips in all televisions, McCall says that most families do not understand the system ratings that come with the v-chip. The author goes on to say that networks rate their own television programs and are not accurately labeling or rating their shows. McCall also argues that parents should…

Television can have positive or negative effects on our children. Children learn by watching and imitating adults. Television provides many influences for children that may not be what you wish for your kids. Television has become a "member" of almost every single family on our planet. And not just an ordinary member, but a very important one, because the time spent next to it exceeds the amount of time spent together with any other family member. You do not have to apply any efforts to talk or listen to complaints while “communicating” with it. You do not have to play with your baby son after a hard working day. You can simply turn the TV on and everything is done: kids are quiet, your wife is not complaining and you feel absolutely happy. It is so simple that it has become an integral part of the culture of every family. It is the only time, when a person can forget about all the family troubles and the failures of the day. The sofa opposite the TV set has become the place of “relaxation and spiritual unity” of the family. With television programs—and even a cable channel—designed and marketed specifically for babies, whether kids under age 3 should be watching becomes an important question. Television, movies and other electronics entertainment are not appropriate for children under the age of, even if they seem mesmerized by it.”(Miller, 2013, p326).…

It was 1923 in England when one of mans greatest and most powerful creation was invented, the television. Before the T.V was considered a luxury, only people with money could afford having one. But now it is hard to find a family who doesn’t own one or more. T.V was also considered a healthy and efficient way to distract the family, especially toddlers. Here is where they were wrong, exposing children to T.V excessively has its negative effects, especially to today’s T.V where they show violence, sex, and drugs. Some effects that T.V can cause are education issues, personality issues, and most important health issues.…

Television shows really do have a major impact in children and though there is a lot of evidence and proof of this, parents and TV show networks continue to display these acts. The acts range from Violence to sexual content that only a grown adult would be able to pick up on and then a major one which leads to violence, bullying. I sat and watched three hours of children shows, and ended up with four shows that all displayed at least one of these acts that children should not be watching. The four TV shows are…

Thailand was hit by the worst flood in 2011 causing vast damage to Thai economy as a whole. The floods have damaged 10 million rai (1.6 million hectares) of rice land, mostly in the Chao Phraya River basin, cutting the main harvest to about 19 million tons from 25.1 million tons and thus causing the reduction about 6 million ton of rice production in 2011. However, this research paper found that the reduction in our rice production in 2011 will be offset by the recovery in the rice growing after the first half in 2012. Moreover, Thailand’s reduction in the world rice export did not cause much fluctuation in the price of the world market. However, this research paper found that the main concern whether Thailand can remain its position as the number one rice exporter is not due to the short-run shock by the flood but rather the competition from Vietnam rice in terms of R&D, productivity, domestic policy and cost factors. Vietnam had gained more and more market share in rice export in the world market since 2005 and already become number 1 in Southeast Asian market and number 2 in the world market. Thus this situation posted the big challenge for Thailand in its long-term policy to cope with such problem in order to maintain the rank as number one rice exporter in the world market.…

The television has become such an integral part of homes in the modern world that it is hard to imagine life without television. It provides entertainment to people of all ages especially children. Children love to watch TV and prefer to stay “glued” to the TV screen all day, rather than playing outside. In the USA, 47% of children ages 2 to 18 years have a television set in their bedrooms. On a typical day, they spend on average of 5.5 hours using media, including television, computer games and the Internet (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2001). TV is the number one after-school activity for 6 to 17 year old. Although television is loved by children and has helped them a lot, it has influenced them in a negative way.…

Television has its good side. It can be entertaining and educational, it can open up new worlds for kids, giving them a chance to travel the world, learn about different cultures, and gain ideas they may never encounter in their own society. Some TV shows can change children’s behavior for the better like Dora the explorer because she teaches you how to be adventurous and Spanish. But when watching TV as a child, it can be a bad thing to watch too much or even watching anything above PG. Many television programs for children are too explicit even the advertising you see on the TV. Television also exposes children to behaviors and attitudes that may be overwhelming and difficult to understand. Many of the advertisements and TV shows promote violence, drugs and sex. Since children’s minds are so underdeveloped they think its right to do drugs, act out in violence, and have sex at an early age. TV molds a child's personality to influence what to think, how to act, and who to be; and when it has such a large presence in a child's life. When children watch television it takes away from important activities such as reading, homework, playing, exercise, and social development. As I watch some children’s TV shows I still see commercials in which they promote women in skimpy clothing and while children are watching their TV shows, they fixate it in their…
