1. Abstract:

Being aware of the current issues faced by the conventional Movie Rental Shops, following project proposal is presented to render a better service to customers, addressing and adopting to their necessities. One of the major issues is the difficulty in purchasing the required movies (DVDs). In many instances the customer has to visit several movie stores wasting his time and money. In the mean time, limited shelf space on movie stores curtails the customer movie selections. The details of a newly released movie will be limited to a brief description on the DVD cover.
To change this flow, our suggestion is to establish a web site, Mov-E-Maniac, where all the customers are facilitated to access the website despite their geographical location when they want to purchase the movie. So that a customer from another country can download a movie even in the midnight of the local time as long as he has the ability to pay online. In addition, customers have the ability to select their movies out of vast range (according to the genres, alphabetical order, crew, award winning movies, ratings etc.). The easy access to the customer reviews and ratings will make an informed purchase. Proposed site will also create a new platform for anyone to get familiarized with the newly released movies and news on recent award ceremonies. They will be privileged to experience many new features that cannot be experienced inside a shop itself.
This document will contain all the details about the system functions that will be built within the web site, which cause the interactivity between the database and the user. Project Plan consists of the phases to be completed till the final outcome of the project. The development and the operational cost are measured and stated at the end of the document. This entire document is to produce a better overview of the project and to explain how to overcome the problems mentioned above via the solutions suggested.
