Online Game Industry in China
Reviewing the 2003-2005 “Forbes List of China’s Richest Top 10”, there appear two strange names, William Ding Lei and Timothy Chan (or Tianqiao Chen). William Ding Lei reached China’s number one ranking with $1,100 million net worth in 2003 (Forbes). These two people shocked China as much as they did the world. The world asked, “Who are they?”, “How could they gain such a huge fortune in only a few years?” Table 1 below shows that these two men are both engaged in the online game industry. In addition, each of them completed their IPO on the NASDAQ exchange. Apparently online game, a new industry in China, made it all happen.
