Online enrollment held

It's the first time in Letran that students are enrolling at midnight.  It's true. On October 14 at exactly 12 midnight, students started to enroll online. The Colegio de San Juan de Letran through the Information Technology Center launched its high-tech enrollment system through the use of the internet.

On-line enrollment allows students to enroll subjects in the next regular semester through the internet. 

This new system required every student to avail of the web service in order to simplify the process of actual enrollment.

It also allows students to register into different subjects which is done through an online facility in the DotLetran portal.

The online enrollment statistics report as of October 18 showed almost 90 percent have completed the online enrollment process as compared to the 2,978 as of the last enrollment date. It means that 60 students still have not confirmed as of the last day of online enrollment.

According to data produced by the ITC, there were 71 students who did not activate their Dot Letran accounts which would make them late enrollees should they decide to enroll later on.

Jan Dizon, ITC web master, said that online enrollment aims to lessen the steps in enrollment and give the students freedom to choose their subjects and schedule. 

Jun Lao, also of the ITC, explained the features of the online enrollment. “It has auto-advising capability wherein it is equipped with pre-requisites, overload, conflict and clearance checkers.”

Since it is a new system, problems occurred especially for students who failed to update their accounts and those who are transferees.  

Lao denied the claim of some students that they were not informed about the enrollment system. “It is not true because we maximized all the means to inform them.  We had the PA system, Short Messaging System, Help Desk, the Deans Office and their professors,” he said.
