Online Education versus Traditional Education
Many students have a difficult time choosing between online education and traditional education. Both styles of education offer advantages and disadvantages to the student. There are many things to consider when making this life altering decision, such as, cost, convenience, time, social interaction, and technology. This information is meant to inform prospective students looking to further their education of the pros and cons of both online education and traditional education. Taking the steps to further your education is a big decision and one that should not be taken lightly. With online education, convenience and cost may be seen as advantages to this type of educational environment. A student can work at his/her own pace and in a place that is comfortable and familiar to him/her. Today, people are so busy with work and children that time seems to be an issue. Online education could be ideal for someone who works a great deal or someone who travels frequently. Your classroom would be available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, provided you have reliable access to a computer and Internet. This could also be an advantage for someone who is shy and not comfortable in group settings. You could also meet classmates from all over the world via the Internet that you may not otherwise meet. However, if you are someone who enjoys the socialization of school, you may want to reconsider online education. The student would also save money on transportation cost, such as, gas to and from school, bus passes, and parking passes. The student would also save on campus housing cost.
