On The Job Reflection Paper
Reflection Paper: On The Job
The movie presented an instance of the reality of contract killings, abuse of power, corruption and poverty. I know about these issues, but only after watching the movie did I realize that what I know were limited. And with the things that I’ve seen and learned, I can’t help but feel troubled and miserable.
Having seen the movie, here’s a quote which made me reflect about the reality… “For the love of money is the root of all evil.” People are willing to do anything for the LOVE OF MONEY. When people have money, they tend to gain fame and power, which are exactly the reasons why corruption exists and impossible to eradicate. Just like the government officials, Gen. Pacheco for instance, it is easy for him to manipulate and control those under him in exchange of bribes. Like Tatang and Daniel, they receive money in exchange of killing people who are threats to their boss. Certain individuals don’t seem to mind whether their means are unjust or illegal. This should not be the case because otherwise people will justify their bad actions based on the good they have done. And as long as this deceit continues, resolving the issues of the system is a hopeless case.
What affected me the most was about how their respect for life was gone. It seemed so easy for them to hire or kill people who are stumbling blocks to their plans. What made it worse was that the state itself uses its power to hire criminals and make them part of a great anomaly. No problem if they get caught because they will still go back to where they came from. But how about the people who find ways to correct the anomalies and go against the corrupt, they are mercilessly killed before they spill the beans, like Atty. Coronel and Acosta. I just suddenly thought, am I not enjoying the benefit of safety under Mayor Duterte, having the DDS, which is sort of connected to contract killings? Having the topic on Davao Death Squad reaching the United Nations proves that it

In the workplace, dealing with issues immediately as they arise can alleviate a worse situation from occurring. Hoping that issues will work themselves out if enough time’s permitted may work for certain situations, but others can continue to get worse especially when several individuals get involved. A situation that the agency had to deal with previously and is still being discussed to this day is concerning an employee that was in supervision. This supervisor was harsh when dealing with the individuals that were under her supervision. The animosity she created between the employees became a day to day event. The employees felt as though they were unable to speak with her concerning this due to the supervisor making it difficult for…

Many people engage in community service project because they are either forced as a punishment or sentence. Others engage in community service out of Spirit of unselfishness, or a desire to connect with their communities by helping out. For me, it brings a sense of completeness. During the past few semester my team members and I have engage in different projects, Collecting food, clothes and donating to the homeless. In a way I’ve experience working the different organizations and helping the community. But with this particular project, it meant much more then collecting for the disadvantaged, It was about lending a hand and your heart to a community in need.. During my involvement in this fieldwork project I got the opportunity to offer my unconditional assistance for one day in a non-profit making community based project. The name of the project was Liberty City Construction, which is being undertaken by a Christian ministry organization whose aim is to improve the livelihood of low-income families through building affordable and decent houses at a 0% interest rate. The organization founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda fuller has built and rehabilitated more then 100,000 families in need, becoming the world leader in addressing the issues if poverty housing. The first reflection paper is going to be on Prayer and Miracles. The important thing is that you want to pray. You yearn to spend time with God in prayer every day. Each individual has to find their prayer time. Life is full and in our daily frenzied life, one must set aside time to be with God. The hurried life style is so apparent in our culture today; everyone is in a hurry and want’s the drive thru prayer request. A miracle is an event attributed to divine intervention. Alternatively, it may be an event attributed to a miracle worker, saint, or religious leader. A miracle is sometimes thought of as a perceptible interruption of the laws of nature. Some suggest that God may work with the laws of nature to perform what people see as miracles. Theologians say that, with divine providence, God regularly works through created nature yet is free to work without, above, or against it as well. In casual usage, miracle is seen as any event that is statistically unlikely, but beneficial, such as surviving a natural disaster, or simply a wonderful occurrence, regardless of likelihood, such as a birth. Other miracles might be: survival of a terminal illness, escaping a life threatening situation or beating the odds. Some coincidences may be seen as miracles, for instance, “ God I need a parking space”, and then there is a parking space…then the driver says “Oh God Thank You anyways, “ I found one on my own”. Needless to say God provide in this coincidence.…

North of Manila, the island of Luzon tempted me with some wonderful mountainous areas, volcanic landscapes and a beautiful coastline dotted with heavenly beaches. Heading up the west coast from Subic, the Zambales coast amazed me being dotted with laidback resorts, while the Hundred Islands , as they say, a favourite weekend trip from Manila, gave me an idea on what to visit this summer. As I remember, further along the coast, the province of La Union draws visitors particularly for its surfing. North of here is Ilocos Sur, known primarily for the old colonial city of Vigan, where horse-drawn carriages bounce down narrow cobblestone streets. This scenario made me go back to the ancient times. As I was able to remember, the area around the capital of Ilocos Norte province, Laoag, features a number of sites related to former dictator Ferdinand Marcos, who was born in the nearby village of Sarrat. Another spot was Palanan – the jump-off point for the barely explored Northern Sierra Madre Natural Park. For many visitors, though, the prime attraction in Northern Luzon is the mountainous inland Cordillera region. Highlights here include the mountain village of Sagada with its caves and hanging coffins, and the stunning rice terraces around Banaue and Bontoc. In the village of Kabayan in Benguet province, it’s possible to hike up to see mummies, discovered in caves in the early twentieth century. Kabayan also provides access to Mount Pulag, the highest mountain in Luzon, as I was able to remember being discussed as “Mt. Pulog”. Finally, far off the northern coast lie the scattered islands of Batanes province. For me, this region is the best in choosing destinations for a vacation.…

Chapter 10 is entitled Conflict Management in Groups. This is a very essential chapter for all members of a group to read and understand. Fortunately, my group members and I have not had a problem with getting along. It just so happened that four members of my group already know each other from another class they are in together. So, they already got along and had some connection with one another. I think we all have good personalities and we enjoy working with each other. The characteristics of our group allow us to be a successful group. The semester is coming to an end, and we have worked hard together to perform all tasks and accomplish all our goals. Getting to the stage where we are now involved a lot of comprimising and negotiating. So, the two terms I would like to concentrate on from Chapter 10 is compromise…

There are a lot of books that have been written over what the different spiritual gifts are and how they are supposed to be used. There are quite a few verses in the New Testament that covers the spiritual gifts and how we are to use them. In 1 Corinthians 12:4-8 we are told, “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the sane God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same spirit.” The Bible…

Dead Poets Society made a huge impact on how I see things now. I secretly branded Mr. Keating, as the "Epitome" of teaching, every students dream is to find a teacher like Mr. Keating. Eventhough his teaching style is unconventional, you would really learn something. He's not like your typical teacher who teaches by the book, because for me, Mr. Keating IS the book. All his lectures are inspirational, he teaches things that would not just help you academically, but also emotionally. He reminds me so much about my Highschool history teacher, a very father-like person, very comical, easy to hang with and lastly he encourages us to pursue our dreams, even though our dreams are impossible. Mr. Keating and my highschool teacher made me realize that there are no limits when we talk about achieving what we want and reaching for our goals, the only hindrance would be ourselves, the fear of not succeeding. So that in the end, we would have little regrets or non at all. I think that it's one of the many factors that led me to put "Dead Poets Society" as one of the must-watch movie list for me. At first "thinking outside the box" was such a cliche for me, but after watching it, I try to apply that idea to everything I do.…
