      Constitutional Topic: Official Language- This article focuses on the many amendments presented to Congress to make English the official language of the United States. There is an amendment to the Constitution proposed at nearly every session of Congress to change this situation and make English the official language of our country. However, regardless of these efforts the United States still does not have an official language.
      Pro-English measures being revived across the United States- This article discusses that the city of Nashville was trying to pass a bill making English the only language that official government business could be conducted in. If this bill had passed Nashville would have been the largest U.S. city to necessitate official government business be conducted in English (Johnson, 2009).
      English-Only Movement: Its Consequences for the Education of Language of Minority Children-   In this article the discussion is based on the effects that English-only teaching in schools would have on minority children. Some of the effects that the article brings up are; educational opportunities in spite of a child’s background, the deprivation of prohibiting children to use their mother-tongue, and children are at a bigger risk of losing their mother-language in these situations.
      A Study of the Official Language Movement- In this article Picardi (2007) discusses the impact of English-Only in education. The article discusses that at the International School of Peninsula established they supported the use of bilingual education. The school promoted this by stating that bilingualism keeps people open minded to other cultures, which helped with stronger problem-solving skills.
