The Epic of Gilgamesh is a very unrealistic to todays life for a few reasons. First of all, there are not such things as 1/3 man an 2/3 God. Also there are no such things as beasts coming from the forest to fight. Seems pretty unrealistic. Some of the things Gilgamesh says in the epic seem like a bunch of nonsense. "For I am Gilgamesh, who seized and killed the bull of heaven" (page 143). Another point is that in the epic, the characters are called God, or hero, and it's not everyday you hear someone being called a hero or God before their first name.
Another reason why Gilgamesh is unrealistic to real life, is that the action of Gilgamesh going on a quest for eternal life. In the epic, Gilgamesh goes on a quest to find eternal life. Even though he ends up finding out that there is no such thing as eternal life, people would not do that now-a-days. The things that Gilgamesh encounters on his journey seem pretty ridicules as well. He comes across things such as the scorpion man, monster
Humbaba, the bull of heaven, and the flood. "With the first light of dawn”, a black cloud came from the horizon; it thundered within the Adad, lord of the storm was riding (page 147). It's very hard to believe one person could do all that.
