Obesity Epidemic
Obesity is the excessive amount of fat cells when the BMI is not the norm. What do you think is the cause of obesity? According to the National Institute of Health, they believe that, “Today, 66 percent of adults in the United States are considered overweight or obese.” A lot of people have different views on this topic. Obesity is caused by many factors which may include environmental and illness factors.

Environmental factors play a major role in obesity. Environmental factors may include overeating, consuming more than what your body can intake. Our lifestyle behavior would include environmental factor. Sedentary lifestyle has made us not have any physical activity everything is at your fingertip. Another factor of this kind would be poverty not having the money to buy the right type of good food. Our availability to access exercise would be under this factor. High calorie snacks on the job for lunch in the machines. My personal experience with environmental factor has affected me, I’m obese. Now days there are a rise with low-income and high-income within obesity. Environmental factors have a big influence on obesity.

Certain illness contributes to obesity. One factor is hypo-under-active thyroid may cause excessive weight gain due to the illness slows your metabolism down resulting in obesity. This is because it does not produce enough hormones. Cushing syndrome is another illness factor due to the enormous amount of releasing of the hormonal cortisol. Poly-cystic ovary syndrome, high levels of androgens may cause difficulty in losing weight resulting in obesity. Studies that where done recently show that having a sleeping disorder my cause weight gain resulting in obesity. Being a diabetic may cause you to not be able to control weight. My sister-in-law has diabetes’s and she struggles daily trying to lose weight but it always seems to come back. Brain damages can also...
