For his first inaugural address, Obama stuck to a broader outline of his ideals and called on politicians to overcome partisan differences and work together in the face of economic crisis. He reminded America that “Hard times are a head” and we shall overcome them together. The challenges we face are serious and real. They will not be met easily or in a short spam of time. “But know this America, they will be met” He related him self to the past presidents and events.

Economy – America is in crises with the economy and with war. But we must face and overcome them together. Obama accused the Bush years and the free market values adopted Repblicans. Obama stated that America’s economy was weakened and is in crisis. He reminded Americans the economic mess he had inherited: “our economy is badly weakened; a consequence of greed and irresponsibility…without a watchful eye the market can spin out of control.” He also reminded America of the two wars he had inherited: “earlier generations… understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please.” the country remaining faithful and the hope that it brought and will bring. the country remaining faithful and the hope that it brought and will bring. He promised "bold and swift" action, an indication that his top priority will be signing into law a new economic stimulus package of close to a trillion dollars. Much of this will be spent on decaying infrastructure, building "roads and bridges, the electric grids and digital lines that feed our commerce".
