1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
NUCOR is a company founded in 1904 by Ransom Eli Olds. Today, NUCOR is seen as one of the largest steel manufacturers in the US and one of the successful ones with best practices applied within. Nucor’s CEO, Kenneth Iverson believes that employees will put their best foot forward if Nucor reward them richly, treat them with respect and give them real power. Employees will also exhibit a high level of passion for the company if they have the sense of belonging and feel that the compensation process is fair and transparent. Nucor’s simple flattened hierarchy of management, pay for performance based scheme, profit sharing culture and decentralized operation differentiate itself from competitors.
