1a. Introduction to NSTP Course (NATIONAL SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAM) NSTP is an opportunity for Holy Angel University to form its students to be socially aware and responsible. HAU’s MISSION STATEMENT

LEGAL BASIS AND BACKGROUND
The National Service Training Program (NSTP) Act of 2001 was conceptualized by primary government agencies (DND, CHED, TESDA) in consultation with the student organizations, state colleges, universities, private schools and NGOs. NSTP’s legal basis is pursuant to Section 12 of RA 9163. Guiding principle (Section 1)

While it is the primary duty of the Government to serve and protect its citizens to defend the security of the state and in fulfillment thereof, the Government may require each citizen to render personal military service. Role of the youth (Section 2)

In recognition of the vital role of the youth in nation building, the State shall promote civic consciousness among them and shall develop their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social wellbeing. It shall inculcate the ideals of patriotism, nationalism, and advance their involvement in public and civic affairs. As the most valuable resource of the nation, they shall be motivated, trained, organized and involved in military, literacy, civic welfare programs and other similar endeavors in the service of the nation. COMPONENTS OF NSTP PROGRAM

* LTS (Literacy Training Program)
* ROTC (Reserved Officers Training Corps)
* CWTS (Civic Welfare Training Service)
COVERAGE
All incoming freshmen students, male and female, starting School Year (2002-2003) , enrolled in baccalaureate and in at least two year technical-vocational or associate courses, are required to complete one NSTP component. 1b. Holy Angel University NSTP
