Animal Farm- Literary Analysis During a revolution both sides have to be resilient and hard work is key to overcoming the opposition. This statement is portrayed in many different texts, like in Animal Farm when the animals kick Jones out of the farm and they’re preparing for the harvest, the animals have to work hard and be resilient “the implements were designed for human beings and not for animals” (Orwell 19). The implements they use symbolize the “reigns”, or the control of the farm, they don’t have any prior experience to run the farm which requires them to adapt to survive, which shows resiliency and hard work. This theme is implied in many different works, such as “The Rebellion of the Magical Rabbits” by Ariel Dorfman, in the story, after the monkey has to use the erasing fluid many times due to the fact that rabbits keep on sneaking into the pictures, his paws get injured. “His paws peeling from the harsh erasing fluid” (Dorfman 119). The peeling paws represent the hardships the people that are being overthrown face, but still he continues trying to please, which shows resilience and hard work. This theme is shown in other pieces like “The Raid” by John Steinback. When when Dick and Root get beat up for fighting for their cause “‘they bust my arm and a couple of ribs’” (Steinbeck 13), they don't regret anything and are ready to continue to fight, this is obviously resilience and hard work. Another work that shows this is “The Little Red Guard” by Anchee Min, when she is ordered to denounce her teacher, she was scared and at the verge of tears, but she got the words out “You are a wolf in sheep's clothing” (Min 6) this is resilience because she had to bounce from the shock of denouncing her teacher and deliver. During a revolution, the side with more resilience and hard work usually wins.
