No Standby

Almost everybody has made difficult decisions that change your friends, hobbies, food, your environment; even your dreams and priorities.   The best decision that we can make is to look for our genuine goals and dreams. That’s why I believe in trying harder, keep going and not stopping your life.   When you don’t have time to think about it and you have to make a decision fast; what would you do?   Do you keep trying or do you stop dreaming and leave it all behind?
When I was little I had a dog that ran away.   He escaped on Friday and I spent the whole weekend looking for him. On Sunday night, I was tired and crying, and I told my mom that I was giving up. I told her that it was too hard to me.   She walked outside and told me: “In some place out there, Yoppy is waiting to be found. So it’s time to try harder and keep going”.   I did as she said, and one week later I found Yoppy.   If I hadn’t kept looking for him, he would’ve died.  
When I was accepted in “Colegio”, I was very excited because that was my goal since I had graduated of high school. I had been waiting in UPR-Ponce for two years to be translate to “Colegio”. What I didn’t know was that this decision wouldn’t as be easy as it appears.   Academics were not that difficult in this new environment.   The hardest part of this challenge was the emotional side.   I almost left my studies because of the feelings of frustration that I had.  
It wasn’t easy when my car didn’t work. I traveled everyday from Ponce, didn’t have any money and didn’t have time to study. I thought that I wasn’t destined to be a chemical engineer.   That it wasn’t my time to study and maybe I would do it later.   At that moment, I remembered my mom’s words “It’s time to try harder and keep going”. I did it again.   I kept going because this is the career that I chose; it’s what I really wanted.
