Niagara Falls

25th March 2013 I soak in the beauty of the water falling over several thousand feet sitting near state park. Around me there are a lot of people enjoying this heavenly view, snapping pictures and experiencing the rush of the Niagara waterfalls. The sun is about to set. There are about 200 colored and white calcium torpedo lights located along the road down the bank of the Canadian side of the gorge and behind the water of the Horseshoe Falls. The illumination of the water falls with different colors of the light creates an effect which is grand, magical and brilliant. At night, when the water falls are illuminated with different shades of the light, I notice the genuine gladness on people’s faces around me. I discover a small boat in the mist of the waterfalls in the river below which is a breathtaking view. I witness some kids in school uniforms, who appear to be from a Canadian school on the porch overlooking the falls. The children are having pleasure of their life, sometimes pushing each other to have a better view of the falls. I observe a few cops walking around and keeping an eye for troublemakers in this massive gathering of people. Along the sidewalk of the park, there are some roadside food vendors serving some local cuisine including fresh water fish, which are being relished by a batch of people from all ages. During the day time, I remember discovering an enormous Rainbow on the west side of falls that was my superlative Rainbow sighting in my entire life. The Horseshoe Falls are one of the nature’s marvels. The Algae on the rocks by water had a putrid odor. The aroma of chicken being roasted or fish being baked on the roadside eatery is very sweet. The atmosphere in the forest near lake was unmarked, but a slightly musty smell was still here. There are batch of restaurants in the Niagara city serving a very diverse and superior cuisine.
Niagara is my favorite place in the world because

The thick tree lines and vast open fields bring a sense of freedom and grandeur. The brilliant light shining like beacon of hope with the soft calming breeze flowing across the field is refreshing and pure like a baby after a warm bath. The air seems to be free and clear of the city’s poisonous air pollution and the soft sounds of birds makes it all too refreshing, like a beautiful day on the beach. With quiet clean monuments and buildings dancing across the landscape, the look of peace and quiet seems to be present at last. As the blue crisp skies begin to darken across the brilliant blue pond, the shimmering light hitting the trees is as beautiful as the sun setting on the Catalina Island on a bright blue day with soft clouds flowing across the sky. I have the taste of fresh fruit on my tongue in my mouth as I take a long deep breath, and realize how much the soft green grass adds to the peacefulness in the park. I can hear the cheerful wildlife scampering beyond the tree line, like young children frolicking in their mother’s front yard. As the quiet darkness sets in, and with the city brilliant lights in the background, the serene park makes the bustling city seem peaceful once…

It was a ferociously gloomy day in the heart of Center City. The time of the observation was from 11:43 am to 12:43pm. Sandwiched between 15th street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard is the Philadelphia's Municipal Services Building and within the plaza of the building lies Board Game Park. Even in the rain, the park was festive. Upon arriving, it began to drizzle. The drizzle was light enough for me to sit by a statue that was composed of multiple bodies piled on top of one another. The noises heard ranged from rain dropping, to horns honking to people laughing or shouting. In the surrounding area of the Board Game Park is Love Park with its remarkable LOVE sculpture and fountain, which was spewing pink water in support of Breast Cancer Awareness…

    Hudson River

The Hudson River and PCB Pollution The Hudson River is a body of water that stretches for 315 miles from the Adirondack Mountains to the Battery in Manhattan, reaching its deepest point of 216 feet in the Highlands near Constitution Island and West Point and reaches its widest point of 3 miles across at Havestraw. This river is one of the most beautiful and scenic of the Tri-State area. Unfortunately, it happens to be New York 's most polluted river. The river has been influenced upon since the early 1600 's, when Englishman Henry Hudson commanded the Dutch ship Half Moon on an exploration of the river, certain that he had discovered a trade route to China. It soon dawned that this was no Atlantic-to-Pacific passage but an Edenlike place of awesome potential-a river valley teeming with prospect and spirit that was worth fighting for. In the centuries that followed, the fight for the river and its commerce never stopped, and still continues to the present. Then during the Industrial Revolution, with the advent of hulking manufacturing plants on the riverbanks, everything changed. The river became a sewer, cut off from the people around it by the electrification of the railroads. The 1825 completion of the Erie Canal instantly opened trade to the Midwest by linking Troy to Buffalo and established the Hudson River as the major commerce channel for New York City. Tycoons transformed the landscape in New York and across the country with the railroad, and the Hudson River valley became a hotbed for iron mining, limestone quarrying and clear-cutting. Toward the 19th century, when dynamite blasting was reducing the face of the Palisades to rubble, conservationists became alarmed that something was being lost to progress. In 1900, New York and New Jersey established the Palisades Interstate Park Commission to preserve the cliffs from further quarrying. Although conservation efforts continued into the 20th century, there was no progress…

The personal essay “Seeing”, written by Annie Dillard, indeed is a mystical literary work. Dillard uses magical and poetic language to describe her own experience of observation of the nature surrounding Tinker Creek. She introduces her subject with an anecdote about her childhood. When she was a little girl she hides her own pennies along the sidewalks of the streets. Afterward, she drew chalk arrows that helped any passer-by “regardless of merit” to find these secret places as “a free gift from the universe”. In her young age, Dillard played this game because she was interested to find out what gifts our world can hide. Many years later she starts to analyze and understand nature of these wonderful gifts. In this essay with the help of observation experience Dillard shows that the universe is full of wonderful gifts from nature and one should find these gifts in order to make their lives more colorful.…

Every national park in America is spectacular for its own reasons but Yosemite National Park has a very unique story behind its astounding scenic views. Yosemite is known for its many geologic features and landscapes. Yosemite Valley is one of the most beautiful qualities within the park, which is a mile-wide, 7-mile-long canyon that was cut by a river then widened and deepened by glacial action over time (National Geographic, 2016). Not very many national parks have a variety of topographies like Yosemite does, which is one of the many reasons why the park is nothing less than spectacular.…

One of the most interesting Angel Falls facts is how these falls were discovered. The falls received their name because of an American bush pilot who was named Jimmy Angel. Angel crashed near the top of the falls in the year 1937, and then alerted the world to what he had found. This is one of the top Venezuela vacation spots, and an experience that no visitor should miss.…

I am halved, standing in the space where red lights change to orange. They’ve begun to install suicide barriers, but only thin drapes of tarp clinging to a few tethered wires and some unfinished, ambiguous construction material linger on the walkway at this time of night. The river is about a hundred and fifty feet below. The only life on the water tonight is the trembling of downtown Edmonton’s muted reflection. Trusses dice the bridge into thin, industrial portions, still as stone, even when cars behind me shove the stale, cold air against my back as they speed past. In the centre of a bridge that connects a city in two parts, soaked in the light of sixty thousand LED bulbs, it’s impossible not to wonder whether all of the people who have stood here planning to jump felt some sense of absolution.…

The water glistened off the sun like a polished pearl. After strolling up to the shore, she gazed at the astounding view. She hopped into ice-cold liquid, and felt a chill crawl up her back. “How does it feel,” yelled a far off voice. “It feels great… jump right in,” she lied. She thought about how Lake Holcombe allows people to be themselves, spend time with family, and become stronger mentally and physically.…

This photograph captures the notion how waterfalls are timeless. You can stare the falls for hours, and every moment feels like the last. As the water transcends down as captured by the photograph, a setting of Zen is created in essence. The photograph, captured in black and white, is contrasted in order to emphasize certain aspects of the picture and to draw in anyone who lays their eyes on it. Furthermore, the photograph’s size does not represent its vastness. As I mentioned before, an observer cannot understand the impact of Niagara Falls unless they view it in person. But, I feel if the picture were blown up, it would only help how powerful the image of the falls is.…

On the both side of the lake, there are lovely lodges surrounded by the forest and dense bushes. A few clear streams flowed out from the mountain. Then they meandered gently through the trail and went down to the creek. Looking up and down, I found it hard to distinguish which was the sky and which was the lake. I even thought the fish in the lake was actually fly in the sky, since the mountain and clouds scene reflected in the tranquil lake so…

In the night’s high tides I look out for boats that are out in the ocean with my oversized flashlight up on the highest point in the lighthouse. “Is anyone out there!?” I yell. I end up finding no response. All that I can hear is the waves crashing onto the rocks. But then for an inexplicable reason, everything feels slower, colder… It’s snowing! I think to myself. I run down the stairs of the lighthouse and What do I see? I see the snow piled on the grass like solid clouds clumped on the green world. I hear the moose, just waking up, and already running around. I drive back home and I see frost stuck on people's houses like sugar stuck on a wooden ladle. Cold, I resumed my trip home. I seem to run into a moose,…

We said our final goodbyes to our house and started driving towards California with our cramped car. Beforehand my parents planned some places where we were going to go to along the way such as going to places we been never before, but eventually in about a week we would reach California! My mom and dad said that “we will definitely be going to Niagara Falls and Mount Rushmore and the rest of the things we will figure out along the way.” We went through Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Utah, Colorado, and Nevada. To start, the first interesting place we stopped at was Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada. At Niagara Falls we listened to the sound of the water rushing and the crisp and clear sound of the water. Our family took pictures in front of the waterfall with the water flying in our faces. “The waterfall is so pretty with that rainbow,” my family said in awe. At Niagara Falls the water was rushing down so fast you could hear the clear and crisp swooshing sound of the water. Niagara Falls is a waterfall that formed about 12,000 years ago and in the 1900’s it became a popular place for daredevils to do stunts and for people to go on honeymoons. On the way to our next stop we stopped by Notre Dame College in Indiana. Our family quickly looked at the campus and football field…
