Persuasive Essay Introduction
Usually, the newspaper is the voice of a small town. Not only do they provide information on news events that are happening in town, but also contain information about the community and any events that may be taking place. Today’s newspapers are only a façide of what they once represented. Most weekly newspapers are only obsessed with making a profit that they are a disgrace to the general public.
Persuasive Essay Body
There are some newspapers that are still concerned with the quality of news that they report. These companies are truthful, accurate and are unbiased. With most major newspapers in small towns, they only print the “hot” topics that will grab the reader’s attention, and fill the rest of their paper with advertisements. Because the advertisers have so much influence of the newspapers, omissions will occur in order to keep their profits. An example of this would be if a reporter wrote a story on the local theater performance, and omitted any negative remarks about the show because many of the people involved are advertisers or are potential customers. Then the reader is given a mediocre review of the performance instead of one that would suggest some improvements be made.
Persuasive Essay Conclusion
So, the general public is forced to suffer the embarrassment of a newspaper that is focused on the profit instead of tradition. The newspaper is only the mouth of the community in the sense that they are distributed community wide. Unfortunately newspapers have forfeited their honor in order to gain a profit.
