Everything is White and Cold
It is February and it is still cold outside. For some people who have been living in Wisconsin or other area in northern hemisphere their entire life, know that it is still cold in February. Unlike me, who is from a tropical which snow does not exist in where I am from, want this winter to be over really soon.
Looking at old pictures, which were taken during my stay in New York, in the iphoto is a great thing do in order to give me a topic of what I should write for my writing class essay. I was sixteen years old when I got to New York. When you are busy with school, and don’t have that much leisure times, time goes by really quick. The last time I went to New York was over the winter break. I am happy that finally I could visit my host families, teachers from my high school, and friends who most of them are in college now just like me. I also had a chance to visit the boarding school that I went for an exchange student program.
One thing I realize as soon as I got there was people do change, but the school does not change at all, except the library. It was burnt down in summer 2007 because of lightning. I’ve never been to the old library since it was closed over the summer. But I’ve seen how the old library looks like. The school is rebuilding it, not only trying to make it looks like what it used to look like, but also making it larger than how it used to be. It looks so much better now with the new copper roof and its larger size.
It’s called the Hackley School. It was founded it 1801 by Mrs. Hackley. The upper school area used to be her summerhouse. She owned a huge amount of land around it. Later on, she decided to build a school, which would benefit people who lived around the neighborhood. It used to be a private-all-boys boarding school, till not long enough after the World War II was over. It is not an all boys’ school anymore, but it is still a boarding school.
