The Big Apple
I currently live in Tampa, but I use to live in New York City. I can proudly say that New York City is such a better city compared to Tampa. When I use to live in New York, I would always be out, hanging with friends or just walking around meeting new people. In Tampa, it is nearly impossible to do anything without a car, which is terrible for younger people because not everyone can drive or can afford to have a car.
People always assume that New York is a dangerous city, but really Tampa is ranked number three in crime rates that occur yearly; New York is ranked ninth. Tampa is top five in every bad category that exists. The worst real estate place to live in is Tampa, and the highest unemployment rate is in Tampa. For example, the first day I moved from New York City to Tampa was horrible. Everyone up North always talked about the seafood in Florida. So my family and I had to experience it. We parked our car at a local Red Lobster to get something to eat. We went inside had an amazing dinner, but when we were walking to our car we noticed that somebody had broken into it. We lived in New York for 11 years and nobody has every broken into our car. It was only the first day in Tampa and somebody already smashed the driver side and window took all the bags, clothes, anything they could out of the car. The thief had to have seen the New York license plate because he left a cute letter saying “Welcome to Tampa Florida” with a huge smiley face. In New York City, there are crimes, wherever people go there are going to be good people and bad people. But in New York, people have common courtesy and culture to know that robbing a family or hurting innocent people is wrong. Most crimes in New York city are gang affiliated, they don’t go around hurting innocent people they try to keep that away from the civilians and only hurt the people who put themselves in that situation.
