New Year Resolutions: A Time for Commitment
New resolution for year 2011
A new moment, new day, new month and new year; everything is looking fresh and rejuvenate to me as a new sun shining after one whole year. The year 2010 is over and now we are moving forward in 2011 with lots of new opportunities for everyone. There were a lot of good and bad memories of last year, but I will grab good memories and move onward with this current year. Most of people have new tasks and ideas for new year and I also have some new resolution for this year.
I have some new resolutions about my fitness because I consider good health is as one of the main roles for being successful in life. Last year I had some bad experiences as I didn’t give my best effort towards my health and gave more importance to other stuff. So this time , being healthy is my first goal for this year. I want to work as a network engineer as soon as I complete my Master’s degree in Communication and Computer Engineering. For the post which I am looking for will require me to be active and have full presence of mind so that I don’t do any mistake which leads to something wrong to anyone .
I have taken guidance from many people regarding how to live healthy and now I will make my schedule after going through my everyday task . I have many options about exercise so that it will make me more active and I will not get bored as I got last year. Doing exercise will not only help for my body fitness but also help in removing stress. Like if people are have too much stress on their nerves then sometime it leads to hair falling also getting white at early age which leads to depression. That’s why I decided to join a gym and yoga class. Yoga will make my mind stable and gym will perform an important role in exercising my body muscles as I have to do computer work . I know , managing all things like office work, college and gym, will me very challenging at early stage but once I get in habit of it I will be more comfortable. It will be a

“Healthy People 2020 is committed to the vision of a society in which all people live long healthy lives” (Healthy People, 2012). Promoting wellness and fitness are important health goals for me and my family. I often make healthy resolution every year in January and that is to get physically fit, to be more active, to eat better, to lose weight and to manage stresses in work and family life. I do try to eat healthy foods and I do not smoke. I also learned how to manage my stress through meditation and relaxation. I do value physical activity and to exercise regularly but I do not have enough time to exercise. After a full time job at school I have to run to another part time job in a different location. I am just too tired after work to…

Ever since my years in high school, I have been very interested in managing my health. It all started with trying to stay in shape for the various sports that I played, which were basketball, soccer and football. As the years went on I was very interested in muscle building and just being in shape and staying fit. I subscribed to muscle magazines and bought other health magazines from the grocery store. As I read these magazines, I became aware of how important better health is. Good health could help me avoid deadly diseases such as diabetes, cancer and high blood pressure among many others.…

The health/nutrition problem that I will be targeting will be my weight. The other problems will be affected by the weight which would be blood pressure, risk of getting diabetes, low energy, depression, etc. Four nutritional or physical exercise goals that I have are to lose at least 100 pounds, lower blood pressure, increase energy and confidence and lower risk of obtaining any other health problems such as diabetes. The actions that will be taken to meet each goal are to obtain a membership to an exercise facility, obtain a membership with a trainer, and work with trainer on an exercise plan and a nutritional plan as well. The anticipated setbacks or difficulties and approaches for overcoming them are the temptations to eating unhealthy foods in which I will remove myself from the situation so those temptations will not be available, loss of interest when it comes to actually going to working out either alone or with trainer in which I will change plan slightly to keep motivated enough to keep going. What I see as outcomes by which to measure success is the way that clothes are fitting will help determine the success of weight loss and weigh-in once a week to determine weight loss success. Evidence of the Plan’s effectiveness in addressing the identified problem or need will be the main piece of evidence in which will be my overall personal feelings and looks after goal is reached. Evaluation of potential health risks that may develop if the plan is not implemented is if I don’t follow through with this goal of losing the weight needed in order to improve my health then the risks involved could be higher blood pressure, end up diabetes, possible heart attack, depression worsens, etc. There are many different ways that my plan may be adjusted if there is a time when I am not physically capable of following through. I could step down the cardio workouts that I am currently on now. At this time I do between 30 to 45 minutes cardio Monday through Friday in the early…

My first goal to a healthier lifestyle is to quit smoking. I personally feel this will be the most challenging goal for me because I have been smoking for almost twenty-five years and it is something I really enjoy. For me nothing is more relaxing than sitting outside on a summer morning when all is quiet and drinking a cup of coffee and having a cigarette. Smoking can make the heart pump faster and work harder therefore driving up the blood pressure. By quitting the heart does not have to work so hard and then the blood pressure returns…

As the sun was slipping below the distant horizon, I awoke a few hours before the calendar would change to 2008. The cool, crisp evening air was going to be a welcome change from the unbearable heat that bore down on us during the day. I didn’t really have the time to dwell on that I had gotten up late. Now my meal was going to be a dry muffin and some water that felt close to boiling in its bottle.…
