CONVERSATION OF NEGOTIATION AT MATTA FAIR

Promoter : Good morning sir! Welcome to our booth. May I help you?

Me : Good morning. I was searching for my vacation at Sarawak. Do you have any good package for me?

Promoter : Of course we have sir. This is the list that we offer through out this year. When you plan to go to vacation?

Me : Oh, I would prefer in June. Do you have any good package?

Promoter : Lucky for you sir! In June we have very good package. During that month they will have Rainforest World Music Festival..

Me : Oh really? By the way, what is Rainforest World Music Festival actually?

Promoter : Oh, Rainforest World Music Festival is the annual event at Sarawak that they will invite musician all around the world to perform their own unique music culture.

Me : Wow that’s sound very interesting! I love music so much! So how long the festival will be held?

Promoter : The festival will be held for 3 days and we have a special package for this event. The package will be 4 days 3 nights.

Me : Oh okay. So what other things that you include in your package?

Promoter : We have several activities that we offer to you. First we give you 3 night stay at 3 stars hotel with breakfast. For activities we will have Kuching City tour, Visit Bako National Park and we will visit Semanggoh Orang Utan Center. And of course Rainforest World Music Festival that will be held at Cultural Village.

Me : Do I get the privilege to visit in the Cultural Village?

Promoter : Of course you have because the 3 days pass is include visit Culural Village. So you don’t have to worry about that.

Me : Okay. How about others offer that include in the package?

Promoter : We will provide you transportation from airport to hotel and return.

Me : Do these packages include flights?

Promoter : I’m so sorry sir, this package is not including flights but we can get for you the flight.

Me : Why you don’t include flight in this package?

Promoter : This package is belongs to Tourism of Sarawak, we just help them to get the customer.

Me : How much is the package?

Promoter : This package cost is RM1135 per person.

Me : Really? That’s so expensive for the packages that don’t have flight you know!

Promoter : I’m so sorry sir but for now this is the offer that we can give to you right now.

Me : My budget is not more than RM1000 including flight. Before I go to here I already checked flight prices are cheap and some hotel also cheap in June. And Just now I checked thru my phone about all price ticket for each places that you offer but still not so expensive like what you offered to me.

Promoter : Okay sir let me check first okay. Can you please wait for a minute?

Me : Sure. I’ll wait.

Promoter : Thank you sir for waiting. I already check the package and because of you we will give you the best offer that we can give. RM1050 for the same package plus return flights. How about it sir?

Me : It’s still a bit higher from my budget.

Promoter : This is the lowest price that we can give it to you sir and you the only one we give this offer because you love the music so much and we want you to have the best experience music ever. We can guarantee you will satisfy with what we already offered to you. Just additional RM50 for your satisfaction sir.

Me : Okay. That’s sound very convincing already. I’m wouldn’t mine to add another RM50 for this package. I will take this package.

Promoter : Really! Thank you very much sir!

Me : Your welcome.

NEGOTIATION ANALYSIS

Early preparation

Before I'm going to MATTA Fair, I have set target for my vacation and the detail are shown below :

1) Want to go vacation in June 2013.
2) Destination of the vacation is Sarawak.
3) Total budget for the vacation is within RM1000 maximum including flights.

With target that I have been set, I'm start searching my vacation that had offer me within my target. Finally I'm found one booth that...
