Video games leech onto children, teenagers, and even adults. Electronic games envelop individuals into their plotlines, disallowing withdrawal from these games. Over the past 40 years, video games have advanced tremendously. Through this great revolution, video games have played a huge role in peoples’ lives, and today about 70% of all people around the globe play some type of video game. With this vast amount of gamers, many are negatively impacted in numerous ways. Although there are few benefits with video games such as; educational purposes, improving social skills, and stress relief, there are more tribulations including academic failure, social isolation, addictiveness, the promotion of violence, as well as health problems. The usages of video games are harmful to all who play and will result in many negative effects.

It is true that video games are educational to all, improving many skills from math and reading to hand-eye co-ordination and spatial skills, however, video games may also promote academic failure and may have a negative impact on educational motivation and learning ability.

In fact, children and teens that play video games on a regular basis have lower marks on average than those who do not play game. The more gaming someone executes the less focus one will have on his or her academics. Studies have also shown that the more time a kid spends playing video games, the poorer is his performance in school as in recent years, there has been a sharp increase in the popularity of computer games in Sweden. Last year, 5.6m games were sold, an on-year increase of 19.5%: that is the equivalent of every other Swede buying a computer game last year! The study discounts the link between games and violent behavior or aggressive feelings - although a child who has been playing a violent computer game is more likely to pick up a toy sword or toy gun than a child who hasn’t.
