Describle how you might contribute to a lesson given to a group of seven year old children learning to play percussion instruments.
What might your role be in organising, using and maintaining the learning resources, material and equipment for this percussion lesson?
My role in organising, using and maintaining the resources would be to make sure all equipment and resourcesAs a Teaching Assistant, I would contribute throughout the lesson in a variety of ways. Before the lesson, I would check the percussion instruments thoroughly, making sure they are not damaged in any way and are safe for use by both staff and pupils, and report any loss or damages to the teacher. I would then set out the desks and equipment as instructed by the teacher, and make any other resources required, such as photocopied music handouts. During the lesson, I would assist the teacher in supervising the children using the instruments, ensuring they are using them correctly and appropriately and not causing any damage to the instruments or themselves. I would also carry out any observations required as directed by the teacher. Once the lesson has ended, I would check the equipment again, and again inform the teacher of any loss or damage. I would then put away the items in the appropriate place and also encourage the children to return items to the correct place. are in working order, well stocked and clean and safe to use. I would check all instruments thoroughly before the lesson begins and make sure they are all safe to use according to school safety policies and are not damaged in any way, for example, no sharp edges or broken/missing parts. I would report to the teacher any loss/damages and fix any problems I was able to. I would also refer to the instructions provided to ensure everything is working as it should and that the resources are age appropriate. I would then find out from the teacher exactly how they wish for the desks...
