1. What is meant by diversity?

Diversity means:

Each other
Regardless of
Talents or

It is used to describe the differences between people, some we can see others we can’t Diversity can be differences in race, heritage, customs, belief systems, physical appearance, mental capabilities, etc. Diversity should be respected and valued because nobody is completely the same as anyone else, even within the categories above. 2. Describe the community you live in. Highlight some of the variations you may observe in terms of: •Interests

Personal, social and cultural identities

Interests- we have a great park with cricket pitch, bowling green, tennis court, children playgrounds, skate park, football pitch, swimming baths and basketball court within 10-20 minutes’ walk. Shopping centre, Library, Theatre, movie theatre, green back yard for green living lovers. •Beliefs - Religious and non religious

Ages - 0 to 100
Lifestyles - Going to work, school, shopping, gym, pubs…. There are many local restaurants offering a huge choice of cuisine

Personal, social and cultural identities

Peterborough is host to a large, multi-cultural community that mostly consists of different groups, projects, schools and charities, separated by nationalities. Like local Community groups, African Community, Pakistani Community, Latvian Community, Polish Community etc. This means differences in social and cultural identities. Because of experiences in differences, very few of community’s get along. You will come a cross a lot of stereotyping and labelling. City has snobbish feel to it. Older generations of English community are very kind, non-judgemental and conservative. I find people very chill, liberal, and down to earth. I am sure with very different believes and views in general. Good handful is indifferent too. You can see a lot of obese. Quite of bit neglected children, disabled children and young people.

I can’t comment on political views, but I have feeling people are mostly conservatives and liberals.

City is very colourful because of different religions. Christians, Islamic, Buddhists, Catholic.

There is each class of people in the city, wealthy, middle class, working class, poor, as well as the "college” class. Young people are very trendy and high tech, with different music tastes. Some people are single, others married, some have children some are gay and lesbians. People are either very involved, or very apathetic about community. Especially at schools and as far as charity work goes. No grey area. In general, city is quite and safe.

3. Explain how the variations in question 2 contribute to the diversity of the community.

Feedback: Unfortunately your response to this question is a little brief and I would be grateful if you could review this and provide a further explanation to ensure that learning outcome 3.2 is fully met. Thank you. Variations in community can contribute to the diversity of the community as fallows:

1. Increase in cultural diversity

Immigration increases product diversity, something that many people enjoy very much. It means more ethnic restaurants to dine in, like Chinese food and Polish cuisines, more cultural centres to enjoy,...
