Thinking is the activity in the brain that gives us the ability to work, play, and communicate. Without the ability to think, we would be unable to accomplish what we want, or realize meaning in what we do. The process of sensing is how we gain our information. Most of our thinking comes from our five senses of sight, smell, touch, and hearing, and taste. The sensory input we gain from our senses is what leads us to thought. Memory is the brains ability to retain information. What we do and do not do can have effects on how well our memory functions. B vitamins and glucose are essential for our brains to function properly, whereas alcohol, nicotine, and marijuana have negative effects on our memory and brain function. The medium is connection between our thoughts and how we are able to express them. We use language to think, and thinking is the medium between language and thoughts.

My next door neighbors are moving out of their house. My perception of the situation was that they were moving somewhere with more space to play and store their toys, such as dirt bikes, four wheelers, and motorcycles that they were always using. I thought that they were moving to a house with more space because they had a lot of toys like four wheelers and motorcycles, and had parties and people over constantly. I learned that what was going on was that the man had lost his job, and had been unable to find work so they were being forced to short sale their house for nearly half of what they originally paid for it. There was such a big difference in what was really going on and what I thought because I did not see the smaller things that were happening, only saw what I thought was going on. Language empowered the expression of my thoughts because I was able to communicate my sympathies when I learned what had happened. I was very sad to learn that they were not moving because they wanted to, but because they had to. I was so caught up in my own life being hard that I thought...
