There are a number of natural disasters that occur and cause damage to us. There are many kind of disasters like Earthquakes, Floods, Cyclones, Tornadoes, Thunderstorms, Avalanches, Volcanic Eruptions, Tsunami etc. It is God’s blessing that we don’t have all of these but a few of them. Usually Earthquakes, Floods, Avalanches, Thunderstorms occur in our country. A flood is an overflow of an expanse of water that submerges land. The EU Floods directive defines a flood as a temporary covering by water of land not normally covered by water. Flood is the main disaster that occurs in our country. In the recent flood of July 2010 which affected almost 20 million people and caused damage to property, livelihood and infrastructure, with a death toll of close to 2,000. There were no proper arrangements even warnings were given. In our country, proper amount of rain falls. An earthquake arises due to displacement of plates present inside the earth. Mostly earthquakes come in china; Japan etc. and they have a complete system for the safety of their people. Cyclone, tropical cyclone, hurricane, and typhoon are different names for the same phenomenon a cyclonic storm system that forms over the oceans. The deadliest hurricane ever was the 1970 Bhola cyclone. A tornado is a violent, dangerous, rotating column of air that is in contact with both the surface of the earth and a cumulonimbus cloudor, in rare cases, the base of a cumulus cloud. They are often referred to as a twister or a cyclone, although the word cyclone is used in meteorology in a wider sense, to name any closed low pressure circulation.
