In many ways, certain events changed our lives and out view on how to live. In “Salvation” by Langston Hughes, he talked about how he was saved from a sin when he was thirteen on how Jesus was brought into his life. In this story, this specific event impacted the thirteen year olds life showing that certain events can change ones outlook on life. In many ways, events change the outlook on many lives for the good and bad. When Langston was saved from a sin, his aunt told him that he saw the light and that Jesus came into his life. That’s why his aunt said he was saved, but Langston disagreed. Furthermore, Langston did see the light and that God had come into his life, but he didn’t have a reason yet for god to help him but his life has changed. This was the certain event that changed his view on life for the better. In many ways, Langston’s event connects to my own and my outlook on life.
My outlook has changed when I started going to church around the age of fifteen about to be sixteen. At first I had nobody to trust. Not my family, not my friends, no one. But one day, my friend asked me to go to church with his family, I decided to go because I had nothing to do that day. That decision was probably my best one I’ve ever made. During the session, I got emotional because the pastor had us pray a lot and to put our trust in god. When my pastor said go in the bible and look at this verse Proverbs 3:5-6,” Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. “
This really had an impact on me. It was a new feeling that I have never felt before. It brought a change in me, and within my soul. After our final praying, I felt like a new person, I felt like I can trust a lot more people including God. If I never went to church that day, who knows what I’ll be getting into. Now I go to church as much as I can and whenever I go, it’s always something special. To this day, I live my life like another kid, I go to college full time, I play ball at the college I am at; I have a job that I really like and I help my mom raise my six year old baby sister that I know I’m making a huge impact on. I try to go to church as much as I can, I mostly go during the summer where I don’t have a lot of plans, but whenever I go I always tend to learn something new to help me in the future and make me a better person and a better surrounding. Going to church can really help you, you can take things you learn from the bible and bring that out into the world, but furthermore, it can really change the outlook on your life. In many ways, certain events changed our lives and out view on how to live. I have grown up in church all of my life, more specifically Mingo Baptist Church. I was raised in a Christian home. We went to church every Sunday, went every Sunday night, and every Wednesday night. For me, going to church was natural. If I ever missed a week, it was because I was sick. I was baptized when I was six years old.
