Turning Point
Turning Point of my Life Everybody has at least one turning point in his or her life that is either good or bad. Luckily for me the choice that I made turned out to be a great choice so far. The turning point that has so far made an impact on my life was making the decision to move to Virginia.

Some of you may wonder why moving to Virginia was a turning point in my life, well one reason was th.t I needed a change of scenery in my life. Growing up in Upstate NY my family didn’t really start out with a good life. My parents were divorced and I lived with my mother who like the rest of my family from my mother’s side has been going through money trouble, health issues, and just stress throughout their life. Back in 2012 my mother and I had moved to my aunt’s house in Virginia because we were living paycheck to paycheck and my aunt didn't really like what we were going through, so she had decided to help us move to Virginia. I was going to enroll in Nova, but I couldn't go because i just did have the right paperwork to enroll in time, so then I just decided to skip a semester. Things were going great until my mother started missing my little brother who at the time lived with his father, and his father would basically make my mother feel

guilty for leaving him there. At the point in time my mother decided to move back to NY because she couldn't just leave him there with no mother. Now I didn't want to leave because I started getting used to VA and I wanted to stay, but I knew my mother would need my help, so I decided to move with her.

As the year went by and we started struggling with paying bills on time and just making enough money to make ends meat. At the time I was working full-time at Wal-Mart and my mom was working as a secretary at a hospital. We weren't making enough money since we had a lot of bills to pay, but we somehow managed to survive. During my time in NY I wasn't

I come from a very dysfunctional family; I am the older of the two children that were produced by my parents. I have a younger sister named Nicole Marie Stover. We are the result of my father’s third marriage, the only offspring he is aware of. He has been married seven times to date, the latest one has been the longest lasting, their twentieth anniversary was a few days ago. He made it quite clear when he came in one morning with Carol, my now step-mother of twenty years, that he was going to make this one work no matter what it took. Well this included striking me out of the picture as I was a troubled young lad. But let’s go back to the beginning of my life, the beginning of this story. I was born Sunday November 09 of the year 1980 to George Adam Stover, III and Dawn Marie Stover (Adams) in the wonderful town of Baltimore that’s located in the state of Maryland at Saint Josephs Hospital. My father was a feature photographer for WMAR Channel 2, where I spent a good portion of my time at playing on the editing room floor and…

In the Tipping Point by Malcom Gladwell he explains that “the Tipping Point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire.” In his book he explains what a tipping point is, how something comes to a Tipping Point, what happens when that something hits its Tipping Point, and the different people that play an important role to create a Tipping Point. On pages 20 and 21 of the book, Gladwell tells of two different men that have different life styles but both like to get sexually involved with many women, Because they were so sexually involved with several womens they spread STD;s to a good amount of the women they were involved with. Gladwell said, “These are the kinds of people who make epidemics of disease tip.” At one point in the book Gladwelll explains an interesting way what a “word-of-mouth” epidemic is. He gives the historical background story of Paul Revere and his midnight ride to Lexington to tell the people that the British were coming. Gladwell said, “Paul Revere’s ride is perhaps the most famous historical example of a word-of-mouth epidemic. A piece of extraordinary news traveled a long distance in a very short time, mobilizing an entire region to arms.” Paul Revere was able to reach out and get the message out to a great deal of people because he was what Gladwell calls a Connector. A Connector is someone who knows a lot of other people. They go out of their way to meet other people and are usually involved in various things where they get to know a lot of people. Gladwell achieves his purpose of explaining what a Connector is giving character traits of Connectors and telling about different people in this world that are Connectors and what they do in their life to make them a Connector.…

Mom and I day have our own house now, we have great family and friends, she has a good job and I graduated from high school with good grades. It’s funny because when she told me that we were going to be alright I didn’t believe in her, but she was right. After all the struggles, the tears, the fights, and the confusion, we’re alright. I learned that all sacrifices paid off, and that you can do anything you want if you’re determinate and have the inner strength to pick yourself up every time you fall. Coming here to Miami was hard, but I’m very grateful that we did…

In The Tipping Point, by Malcolm Gladwell, the tone clearly drives the strategy to be logos. Logos is an exceptional rhetorical strategy as it persuades the reader, not through the use of emotions and feelings, but rather through the use of logic and reasoning. There exists an energy in the style in which Gladwell writes that has the power to persuade the audience to believe what he believes in, the Tipping Point. Gladwell does not only give us his theory on how epidemics spread, but uses logos to connect the world we live in to his theory. The author’s use of logos results in a greater impact of the rhetoric.…

I moved to Alabama from Texas at the beginning of my 6th grade year. The day before leaving, my best friend since kindergarten came over and stayed the night with me, dreading falling asleep and waking up to a nightmare of having to say goodbye. The morning came and so did the tears, I had packed up my entire life, said goodbye to all my family, friends, my house, and even my dad. How was I, an insecure, and VERY shy little girl supposed to just leave everything I knew and loved and start all the way over when my life was just getting started? It was a long 12 hour drive from Dallas, Texas, to little town Guntersville, Alabama and it gave me a long time to pity myself, hate my mom for moving me, get over the hate and be excited, and then be upset all over again. Alabama. Why Alabama? We had a choice, Alabama or Florida, and we chose here??? Me being a stubborn, bratty, over dramatic pre-teen, I just couldn’t wrap my head around it. I thought the world was ending.…

It was the morning of move in day. I said goodbye to my home and headed out. I passed the local shopping market and my high school where I enjoyed a fun four years. As I headed to Norman I realized I was leaving everything I had ever known. All my life has consisted of living in the same house, going to school with the same kids, and going to the same supermarkets and restaurants. While I’d like to say I have developed a good idea of the world around me by visiting so many cities around the United States, in reality the only world I’ve ever known is the same one I have spent my whole life in. I have loved growing up in Northwest Oklahoma City with the friends that have helped shaped me into who I am today, however I relished the opportunity…

One day nearly two years ago, I came back from the worst trip and experience ever in my life. Three years ago, my family made the biggest decision of our lifetime together and we had decided to move. Now the fact that we were moving didn’t bother me or my little sister, it was just the simple fact that we were moving from our home that we had grown up in our entire life. The only problem was the fact that we had eventually found out that we were going to move to Oregon. This Alabama home that we grew up in was very special to me and my sister but it wasn’t the one of best of places. We had lived right beside our grandparents and we loved to go up the hill and see them and us moving had rendered that possibility from happening any longer.…

My name is Erica Vargas I am a 24 yr old college graduate student; I attended Brookline College for 9 months. I live with Zach. I was 23 when he took me into his home; I depended on my mother a lot before Zach. My mother liked to move a lot and I didn’t graduate from high school because of that, so when I had an opportunity I left home at 17 and enrolled into job corps in Roswell N.M. I lived there for two years; I struggled to get my GED, I wasn’t getting the help I needed. I did graduate with my trade in Painting & Remodeling. Once I left job corp, I moved back into my mother’s house, she wasn’t doing too well so I had to raise my younger brother and I did, I’m so proud of him and the job I did at raising him. but that wasn’t the life for me, I was young I wanted a better life for myself, I didn’t like staying home. My mom got better and wanted to move, so one day when I was browsing the internet I met Zach, he’s an artist. We would talk hours on the phone and I confided in him, he knew my situation very well and was always there when I needed to talk. We ended up moving to Roswell, we lived there for a year and I had a job and was working so much I never had time to work on my GED, and then my mom wanted to move again so I had no choice but to come with her because I was using her vehicle for work. My mother moved to Belen nm where my grandma lives and I was trying to get a job but no luck so I decided I wanted to go to college, so I enrolled into Brookline college, Albuquerque is a 30 minute drive from Belen I didn’t know how I would transport myself from Belen to Albuquerque everyday but I did it and I struggled doing it. My life

Recently I lost someone very dear to me, my mom, and my grandma, although she was very loved by many. I can say that it seems like it is harder for my mom and grandma. They both loved her so much and you can tell it broke my mom some. She was sad today while looking through my great grandma’s things but it was worth everything to see all the stuff that she owns and read more about her life. Today we received the package of my great grandma’s things and journal’s about her life basically. So as I am sitting here procrastinating doing homework for my COLL 148 class and my BUSN 115 class I decided to write and this shall be the beginning of my long story hopefully one day my great grandchildren will be able to read about me as well. So I am 18 and a new college student. I recently graduated on June 14th, 2014, and I started college on July 7th, 2014. I can say that I have successfully almost finished my first session on college. It is going great I have in A in both classes and I think that is pretty good considering sometimes I really don’t do as well in school as I probably should. I guess I should also say that as of right now I am thinking about my trip next summer although we haven’t really paid for the tickets yet. So I guess you can say that I am not sure if I am really going or not going. Hopefully I can tell you soon. As you can see I am a girl who is kind of boy crazed right now and I hope that my children do not ever become as boy crazed or as girl crazed as their mother. So I am telling you now that if you read this and you know you were boy or girl crazed you got it from your mama. On June 18th, 2014 my whole life changed. I broke up with a guy I thought would be my whole world but it turns out he wasn’t he cheated on me and it broke my heart. I was very upset for a while and I think I took it out on my mom and on my family the ones that loved me the most and who never ever went away. I feel bad looking back on it because I hurt some…
