Question #2: What aspects of the stories of Prometheus as well as Pandora have intrigued
us as humans throughout the ages? Are there messages that are relevant in our world today?
Second Written Assignment
The Greek mythology tale of Prometheus, and Pandora, is probably one of the most principal Titan myths ever. I have read some Greek myths about both gods and goddesses and how they may or may not have helped the human race in some form or fashion. After reading this story about this particular god, Prometheus, I noticed he did have a desire help mankind greatly in his need to survive and maintain daily living comfortably. Because of his kindness and of course, his desire to help mankind via his gifts and such, they developed respect and love for him. Also, Prometheus and his brother Zeus are in constant battle, or what I call sibling rivalry, due to Prometheus love for mankind. The story consist of betrayal, sabotage and of course mystery. Some of the aspects within this Greek myth of Prometheus, Zeus and Pandora have many aspects that have intrigued humans since the beginning of time.
To begin, I noticed this Greek myth of Prometheus and Pandora has a close comparison to the biblical story of Adam and Eve from the book of Genesis. In Prometheus story he created man and animal from clay were as in the Bible, man is created by God from the earth. Also, because Prometheus, tricks Zeus into believing he was receiving a better offering of the bull and did not, caused Zeus to punish both Prometheus and mankind. The punishment was set on both Prometheus and to eat raw meat and not have the use of fire. Prometheus does not like this and understands that mankind could use fire to taking steps into becoming a more advanced civilization.
