Heroic epic poem and the Anglo-Saxon’s life
There are many kinds of poem that have a unique style and a widely known form of literature throughout the world. Heroic epic poem is one of the significant kinds. The Anglo-Saxon people wrote epic poem during the 700-1000 AD. The Anglo-Saxon is the first group of people who came into England after the Roman soldiers left England in 410 AD. They are the basic of the Great Britain culture because of their significant influences during the early time.
The Anglo-Saxon wrote a lot of heroic epic poem and they were known for that style of poem. There are a lot of words that meaning is repetitive. The Epic simile uses the word as and like, which is similar to the one we know. Speeches are often followed by phrases such as “thus he spoke” and these were used it to emphasize that the character said it. Heroic epic poem is written in order to honor their heroic ancestors. The hero is often a demi-god, which is a half mortal and immortal. Also, they possess some special weapon or super ability. Those epic heroes will have to go for a long journey and there are a lot of weird or mystical creatures that will test them. The Anglo-Saxon used these structures for their criteria for their poem.
If we were going to talk about the origin of the Anglo-Saxon people, we would have to go back to the time during the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire invaded England in 43AD. The Empire conquered the island for 400 years and they left in 410AD. The Anglo-Saxons were the new arrival that came from the North Sea. They built their house in the towns that were built by the Roman because the town’s structure is very protective. Each group of Anglo-Saxon settlers had a leader called “cyning,” which means king.
