There are countless definitions of heroes in our world today. Is it a superstar who used his fame and fortune to help the needy in his hometown? Is it a firefighter who sees no danger in all circumstances just to save lives of people? Is it an Overseas Filipino Worker who is ready to bear the pain of being alone just to provide his family a comfortable life? Or is it a mom who has to work two jobs to support her children and still make them feel the love they need? But what really makes a person a hero?
Behind these great people are strong foundations that guide and develop them all throughout. Education is one of the greatest gift mankind can ever receive. It is vital to anybody. The role played by teachers becomes very significant since they are considered as one of the nation builders. On him rests the failure or the success of the nation. The influence of the teacher is very immense and no one knows when this influence becomes visible. Since the teacher serves as the second parent of a child, he should have the qualities of a role model person. From the simple ABC and 123 to keeping the surroundings always clean are learned from the Kindergarten teachers which are still applicable today. These knowledge, attitudes, values and behavior bring out good and responsible citizens.
The teacher measures the achievements and aspirations of the nation. The teacher is a dynamic force that motivates everyone to become a responsible, productive citizen. The teacher is the backbone of the community. SACRIFICE, DETERMINATION, COURAGE, DEDICATION, SELFLESS, PERSEVERANCE – these are the common qualities attributed to a hero.
