As teacher’s we are committing to a life time of learning and development of ourselves and our learners.…
My name is Liang Yingyi, a new transfer student who major in nursing from Guangzhou, China. I have learned English since grade three in primary school and fortunately I did well in almost every English test in China. However, in the US I found that my vocabulary was never enough for me to express my thoughts and sometimes I couldn’t even understand in class. Besides, the grammar is another issue for me to focus on.…
On the on-set of the book, the author, Stephen Brookfield in describing the attributes of the ‘skillful teacher’, immediately focused his discussion not with the teacher alone but in his/her relationship with the learners and the goal of the whole processes of teaching and learning. It is not just about the teacher and his/her skill, nor the subject and his/her methodology; it is neither just about the students, their excellence and weaknesses, nor their diversity. Although the learning context, structure and even the organization and institution and its politic create such impact to the whole works of the teacher and the learning; he still did not based his arguments on them alone The author very strongly focused his arguments on the very purpose of the act of teaching that is “to help student learn.” With this in central concern, he then explored the need of the teachers to ‘understand how students are experiencing their learning and then responding appropriately to this information.”…
Within this short biographical dialogue I intend to explain my personal educational experience as well as argue my particular ideology which I feel is relevant to this piece. The ideology that I am going to discuss is the elitist ideology.…
The burger restaurant across from the movie theater was bustling with loyal patrons eagerly awaiting their chance to devour scrumptious food. Friday nights were exceedingly difficult for the staff — especially when popular movies debuted. Vanessa tried her best to accommodate the customers in an expeditious and amiable way; however, the high volume prevented her from providing the excellent service she desired to attain quality tips. She told herself multiple times that another job would eliminate much of her stress, but procrastinated when opportunities became available. Besides, with tips, she was pulling in $18 an hour (not bad for a college student).…
Working in education has rewarded me in ways that I never expected. I am able to connect with people of all ages and from different walks of life. My life experiences and the strong mentors that guide me reinforce that this is where I am supposed to be. I am walking in my purpose. Being a part of this experience also confirms the suspicions that I sensed but could not prove as a young “brown girl.” Because I was of a different race, the daughter of immigrants, and lived in poverty, I was viewed from a deficit-based perspective. People like me were not “good test-takers” and would simply bring the average down. Unfortunately, not much has changed since then. In most places, students of color are still viewed from a deficit-based perspective.…
Times are changing and consistently evolving, with time, there are also changes happening in education. Teachers work constantly to be aware and knowledgeable of the progress, as each must be able to teach on new topics, as well as new methods of teaching. This is how every teacher works to do their part to provide a chance for an even better future for children. Education is one of the most important aspects of children’s lives.…
The school year had just started; I was walking into the classroom of one of my most difficult classes that junior year. As I enter the room I see a man who looked like a basic high school male teacher. Although he looked like many male teachers I have seen before, I was a little intimidated by the presence he gave off. As I sit down, and class begins, I realize that this average looking teacher is not the intimidating man I thought he was. On this day, I met a teacher who changed the way I look at my academic studies today. This teacher taught me to never give up on my academics and to believe in myself and everything will be okay. This teacher, or so-called average looking teacher, was my college chemistry teacher, Mr. Notsch.…
I choose to do my teacher interview at Huntley high school, which is the school I graduated from. When I was at the high school doing the interview another teacher came into the office, so I actually was able to get the opinions of two teachers. I interview my junior physical education teacher Ms. Seitz who also teaches Health Education she has taught for three years. I also was able to meet with Mr. Fahey who just started teaching this year as a first year teacher he also teaches Physical Education and Health Education. After speaking with both teachers I think you must have a very open mind to become a teacher. Not only are you there to teacher, you also need to create a good relationship with your students. You must be a good…
In order to be a successful educator, it is important to reflect upon one’s teaching. This may include videotaping classes, being observed by a colleague, asking for help with a problem or finding new ways to teach a topic. Being a reflective teacher is something I have tried to be while student teaching and plan to continue working on.…
The problem addressed in the story is actual nowadays. It is children’s misbehaviour, their unwillingness to study. It examines the growth of the relationship between student and teacher through personal understanding of each other, which is the inspirational foundation of their education. The story reflects the author's preoccupation with the moral…

My education began in first grade in 1974. My state didn’t mandate kindergarten, so my parents didn’t send me, even though my brothers and sister went. It wasn’t easy for me, because school was the first place I ever got to interact with other people, mainly children, as an equal.…
Throughout my short teaching career so far I’ve had the privilege of knowing a few unique students. Let me introduce you to two: John, for example, is rarely on task except if it involves drawing. He is perpetually staring into space or asking me questions that I have literally just answered for the whole class. Poor John is lost more often than not, but if hand unfortunately this is clearly reflected in his grades. Nathan has been another one of my problem children this year. He is extremely bright which makes it even more sad that he wastes all of his energy causing drama in the classroom. I have a hunch that life at home for Nathan is quite theatrical. Between his brothers in a gang and single mother ignoring him for her boyfriend of the week, no one can truly blame the child for wanting to feel normal. Nathan’s way to cope is to bring his sense of “normalcy” into school. This makes it hard for other students to work with him always pushing his way into their business.…
Through this course of study , I learned a lot of teaching methods and theoretical knowledge. At the same time, I'm also studying the process learned how to design a complete lesson plan contains a variety of educational practices. Since this is my first semester started my graduate course, before that I did not learn academic language class or education class expertise. In class discussions, my classmates shared a lot of ideas, and I am very inspired. The Professor’s teaching process through this semester, I also experienced how the educational methods used in the classroom with this course. These learning, the diversity and richness of the educational methods I have a new understanding. However, at the same time, I also realized that my own knowledge system is still very imperfect and incomplete. I still need to learn more knowledge to support my knowledge systems. Through the course of the study, inspired my strong interest in language education. I think the design and organization of a lesson is very interesting, of course, is still a very difficult thing. Based on a certain understanding of these knowledge and learning, I think I will be more willing to spend more time thinking about how to be a teacher. I also realize that good communication is an important way to establish a good relationship between teachers and students. I will invest more in my education experience, enthusiasm and thinking.…
