Project Proposal
I plan to do my research on mass media and how it’s effecting our generation. My paper will determine rather mass media has had a negative influence on today’s generation or not. My argument is that, yes, mass media has has had a negative effect on this generation. My plan is to argue both sides and come to a point in which I prove my thesis. I would like to prove this through interviews of peers and adults of the generation before, as well as quoting those before me who have dwelled on this very subject matter. This affects me personally because I am a part of this generation and I can see what’s happening to it. I can see change and it’s not change in a good way. The central question my project hopes to address is how has it effected our generation, and what influences has it had on it. Our generation is at stake at this point and by doing my research I plan to find out why and how it happened. The collective understanding I want my paper to reach is that it doesn’t have to be this bad and we, as a generation should want more for ourselves because it’ll just continue as a cycle as this generation grows up and have children of their own creating another generation following right after ours. I imagine I will go about my research by first explaining how our generation differs from others, then I plan on going on to explain how society and mass media has contributed to the change. Although I won’t be focusing on one specific concept of mass media, I will touch on multiple, for example shows like “Teen Mom, 16 & Pregnant, I’m Having a Baby & So is My Daughter” and etc., Disney and Nickelodeon shows aimed at younger kids displaying “making out” and movies of young kids having sex, running off with the opposite sex, as well as celebrities and what they’re doing in the lime light. I see my project as an example of academic research because it will include passages from scholars who have spoken on the

Will Bury, an enterprising inventor, is convinced that soon everyone will be reading or listening to everything digitally, including books that have been mostly available in hard copy. He knows that there are books on CD, but these are relatively expensive and have been recorded using human readers. He also knows that there is technology that can transform the printed word into audio, but the sound is somewhat inhuman. Will plans on speeding up the transformation with a proprietary technology he has developed and patented. This technology takes the printed word for text materials and creates a file with the option of reading it digitally or listening to it with a realistic synthetic voice. Will knows that he has free access to books no longer under copyright protection, and he figures he can pay a royalty fee of $5 per title for copyrighted books that will greatly expand his catalog. So far, he has limited himself to English-language books but is working on a language translation option as well.…

My generation consists of those born between 1980 and 1994. My generation has been labeled a lot of things. We've been called Generation Y, Generation ME, Millennial’s, the Internet Generation, and even Generation Einstein. We have also been labeled the laziest generation ever. We are a cohort of kids that because of instant messaging, Myspace and Facebook, we seek instant gratification. We are impatient and unwilling to work hard, according to many, hence the name, Generation ME. All this “technology” generation wants is instant gratification. Perhaps the most outstanding detail that distinguishes this generation- from even those born just a couple of years earlier- is their level of media…

The mass media plays a key role in today’s society. From the young to the old, most everyone relies upon some form of popular media for entertainment, information, communication and education. Additionally, a large part of our beliefs, values and knowledge are gained through some type of popular media. The numerous sources of media in use today make it close to impossible to avoid being exposed to its content. Whether it be newspapers, television, radio, magazines, video games, Internet or one of the many other sources, there is no doubt that the media is everywhere. Furthermore, when something is everywhere, it is certain to have influential effects. If these conditions are accepted as true, then, concluding that the popular media must have influential effects on society, must also be accepted as true. Indeed, society is greatly influenced by the media, specifically, by the values that are being portrayed. Moreover, children/adolescent teens (youth), ages 8 – 17, are the group in society most significantly influenced by media content. It is in this age range that finding individuality and a sense of belonging, or fitting in, is of utmost importance. A youth’s development is effected by what they see and hear, as well as, peer pressure. From eating disorders, behavior issues and self-doubt to teen pregnancy (sex), drugs, alcohol, smoking, and even death, the media’s portrayal of values through TV, magazines, music, and video games can have potentially devastating effects, both physically and mentally on a child. Even though the media can be a positive influence on society, for instance, by keeping society informed in a crisis situation, such as natural disasters, action needs to be taken to protect our youth by reducing the negative influences resulting from immoral and unethical media content.…

In our multimedia-based society kids are exposed to more information than ever. Television, Internet, and satellite news are available 24/7. Polar ice caps are melting, our troops are dying, and people are starving as we watch live. My generation is more aware of what is going on in the world than previous ones. My generation is more likely to be offspring of single-parent families, multi-racial families, and openly gay parents. The world has changed, society is different from when our parents grew up.…

The mass media, including T.V., radio, and newspapers have been around for almost a generation. At least one of these pieces of media has been in every household in America, if not all of them. They give people an insight into what’s going on in the world. It also informs people of the newest trends from clothing to music. All this time the media has been in American homes it has influenced those who watch, listen, or read it. Although it has influenced adults, its main target has been the younger generations. The advertising and T.V. shows have been made to be appealing to them and have swayed their opinions. The media has influenced younger generations’ style, way of life, and ultimately put pressure on them to be the perfect person.…

The purpose of this proposal is to address the condition of our private landing and propose a reconstruction solution. Every camp owner will benefit from this as our current landing is in dire need of repairs. The constant rise and fall of the Mississippi River over the past few years has played havoc on the parking area and if not addressed will only get worse. I am concerned with the progressing deterioration of the landing. If we choose to do nothing, it will not be long before we will be launching our boats at the public landing down the street. I have prepared a proposal including a detailed list of what we can expect to pay and if the majority can agree, I can have this project completed just in time for when school lets out in May.…

Many shows or movies that society watches, can harm the youth in a negative way. The media can come from a variety of entertainment like Reality shows, cartoons, and music videos. The media has a lot to do with this because it is promoting violence and harmful things that can corrupt a youths mind. The media can have a negative impact that will teach them to use profanity, drugs, sex, crimes and disrespecting their parents. Not only can it bring a negative impact, but also portray a negative image of African American males and females. The media now can be prejudice to African American’s in ways that will make them look like thugs, lazy, and just violent people. Living in the 21st century, everything we watch or hear on TV is very different from the past. For example in the 1950-1970’s, profanity couldn’t be used to show express laughter or drama, 2000-2012 has a lot of profanity being used. The negative influence that television brings on society is so outrages that people will try to live their life as a celebrity. Some may try to carry themselves in an erratically behavior, which will have them following in the wrong footsteps. To see the youth fall under the influence to follow many rappers, celebrities, or reality stars that are portraying a negative impact. The purpose for choosing this topic is to show and state how the media affects the society and youth. The media haves a negative impact to our society by promoting a lot of things that should not be shown or heard. I’m Going deeper on this research to see how the society is being influence by the negative events that is going on around the world. I feel that the media now can show a lot of things that can really prevent others from being successful. So the main question will be, why this topic is important? This topic is very important because everything we watch is now making other people stereotype each other, copy what they see and will have our youth confuse on what is right and wrong.…

At any point in time, thousands of events are happening globally, with millions of guests travelling to and from different locations around the world. Events are organised in numerous places all over the globe thereby affecting every metropolitan city in the world. The Event industry has been leaving a heavy ecological footprint in its wake. The fact is, it generates a lot of money, but it also leaves a lot of waste. Nevertheless, it is perfectly situated to have an extraordinary impact by planning events with environmental awareness in mind i.e. by greening up their choices. Green planning is a responsible way of doing business that includes energy conservation, minimizing consumption of natural resources, reducing waste, reusing resources, recycling, and using earth-friendly products. Green events are not mainstream yet but are evolving and planners, venues, suppliers and participants are taking action by following green practices and implementing more environmentally friendly processes and programs.…

"According to Daniel Lerner whose classic text, The Passing of Traditional Society, argued that mass media opened closed traditional minds by revealing the vast world of difference, facilitating the 'empathy' that was a prerequisite of the mobile, politically participating, opinion-holding personality essential to modernity" (Lughod 1995: 190). It is true that the invention of mass media has made an information explosion, broadening people's perspectives and hastening the speed of acquiring information and knowledge, but what comes along with them are issues of impact of media on human's…
