After finishing the lecture of study skills, I have evaluated myself through finishing VARK questionnaire, SWOT analysis and SHAPE analysis. I have figure out my secure direction of my life in the future and I have a complete plan and time frame to keep going forward. Then I write down my thinking of my learning journey in February, 2012.
The report is in terms of my orientation, review, appraisal, planning, evaluating progress and extrapolation in my learning journey in five years.
Chapter 1 Orientation
My aim in the future is to be an excellent Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and I want to be the Chief Financial Officer in a listed limited company. It is obvious that the aim is a tough task and I must be faced with lots of difficulties. Consequently, I have worked out a plan. Firstly, in three years I must be through the first step, professional stage, of the CPA examination. Secondly, in four years I must pass the second step, senior stage, of the CPA examination, after which, thirdly, I can receive a certificate to apply for a position of audit work in an accounting firm for two years. It is required that the person who has the experience of audit work for two years in an accounting firm should be qualified to be a CPA. As a result, in five years I need to pass the CPA examination and get the experience of audit work for two years. Now I work out a study program. I am going to study professional accounting subjects in my junior and senior years in the university. I will make a study plan for details and a time frame every month to make efforts to achieve my aim by steps. If I am in trouble, I can ask my lecturers for advice to grasp the basic theories and skills. After I pass the first stage of exam, I will continue studying on accounting and apply for an accounting job as a part-time intern to improve my professional ability to be through the second stage. If I pass the exams, I will work in an accounting firm to accumulate practical -2-
experience and improve my ability of accounting and practical English. Therefore, I need to develop my professional skills and have knowledge of relevant laws. I should respect my professional ethics and develop my intellectual skills, technology and practical skills. I also need develop personal skills, communication skills, organization and management skills.
Chapter 2 Review
It is my interest that has led me to this point. I like math and accounting because my mother is an accountant and teaches me lots of things about accounting, which developed my interest. What inspired me are perseverance and the popularity of accountants in society. I am patient of my interest to study and the demand of CPA is very huge.
