My hometown is worth visiting

Sarawak-my hometown and I am proud of it. The scenery, languages, historical places, interesting places and various foods are very special to me as the resident of The Earth of Hornbill. I am proud to promote my hometown to everybody as Sarawak has its own attraction. I will be gladsome to recommend the most popular places in Sarawak which is also known as the main attraction such as Sarawak Cultural Village, Jong’s Crocodile Farm, Sarawak tribe languages and the most known well foods among the visitors likes Laksa Sarawak, Kek Lapis Sarawak and the most unique one is Manok Pansoh. As the one of the attraction in my hometown, Sarawak Cultural Village which is also known as “Museum of Life” will be always welcomes the visitors to come and visit the village as the same as Jong’s Crocodile Farm. At the Sarawak Cultural Village, they can see the replicas of buildings that represent every major indigenous tribe in Sarawak. In addition to make it more interesting, visitors also can hold their wedding at the Sarawak Cultural Village in the style of traditional that they are like too. Furthermore, Sarawak Cultural Village is also the venue of the World Harvest Festival and the Rainforest World Music Festival, which are an internationally renowned festival. As the same as the Sarawak Cultural Village, Jong’s Crocodile Farm also welcomes the visitors. I often heard the rumour said that Sarawak is a country that has many crocodile due to the incident of crocodile attacks that usually happens to Sarawak local residents. Well, maybe it is true about the numbers of the crocodile in Sarawak as the Jong’s Crocodile Farm is the biggest rearing, breading and rehabilitation in Malaysia. Its places more than 1000 crocodiles with different sizes, types and just for information, those crocodiles are also come from different areas. The visitors will be presented by the crocodile feeding show that will hold in the afternoon and in the evening.

In the play "Our Town", by Thornton Wilder, a character by the name of Simon Stimson makes a very insightful statement about people and their lives. Simon is dead and buried, as well as several of the play's other characters, when a newly-dead young woman named Emily joins their ranks and begins to realize the triviality and ignorance of her existence, as well as that of every living person. The dead are discussing this insignificance and unawareness of the living when Simon comments with disgust on how much living persons waste their life, asserting, "To spend and waste time as though you had a million years." In this statement, Simon is referring to the degree of which people take their lives for granted. People are often so busy and so consumed by relatively minor matters that they never stopped to realize how truly special everything is. They go about their days following strict schedules and routines, always rushing about to meet their many obligations, and never take the time to simply cherish even the small things. Most people wake-up in the morning, rush about to leave for school or their jobs, work or learn all day, only to come home and have yet more obligations to take care of, never once taking time out to stop and enjoy things for themselves. Simon is referring to the daily routines and events the consume people's lives as a waste of time, for they do not realize how genuinely short their lives are. Simon is upset with people for never taking time to admire the beauty that surrounds their lives, never cherishing the time they have with others, and even being ignorant of life's small pleasures, such as fresh clothes and hot baths. People live their lives working towards something they think will always be attainable, setting their eyes on the future, living for the future, rushing for the future, and ignoring the present. With "Our Town", Thornton Wilder is attempting to show us these faults and trying to persuade us to live in and for the…

What is the purpose of life? Is it to obtain wealth, fortune, or become famous? Or do the trivial things in life, occurring everyday, make life grand and give life its purpose? Thornton Wilder attempted to answer this very intricate question, a question which plays with each of our minds once in a while, through his play, Our Town. In Our Town, he exemplified his view of life and what it truly means by not only reflecting upon life, but also, death. Through death, we learn what life really is, and what life has to offer us. It is not the grand and fine things in life, but the minor everyday things in life that truly make life worth living. When speaking of Our Town he said, “It is an attempt to find value above all price, for the smallest events in our daily life.”…

Wilder's passionate plea in the play is to appreciate every moment of every day, for life is a fleeting thing. With troubles rapidly expanding in Europe and war becoming a looming reality, people were inundated with the negative aspects of life. To see Our Town was to escape from the negative and rejoice in the ordinary; it reaffirmed faith in the unchanging moral values of small town living. It was obviously the balm that audiences needed in the midst of a pessimistic and changing world. Through his play, Wilder tries to teach the audience to seize the moment and enjoy living. There are no guarantees about a certain life span, as evidenced by the premature deaths of Emily Webb and her brother, Wally; tomorrow may be too late. By calling the drama Our Town and portraying ordinary people and events, the people in the audience and the readers of the play can identify with the theme and apply it to their own lives. Our Town is an unusual play in structure. It intentionally contains little action, in order to support the theme; nothing exciting or…

The name of the city where I spent my childhood is called Senec and it is the second largest town of historic Gemer region, lies 175 m above sea level somewhere in the heart of Europe. It is situated in the west part of Slovakia and it lies on the river Cierna Voda. The first written document concerning Senec dates back to 1332. The history of Senec is connected with an aristocratic family of the Drugeths from Italy. The Drugeths came to change Senec into the center of one of the largest feudal dominions in Slovakia. They ruled for 5 decades until new family from current Hungary took over the power the whole region. The Andrassys started to influence the history of Senec in the 19th century and that period was characterized by economic growth. With the first train in Senec in 1871 started also the development of trade and woodcutting. The construction of a plant for the production of textile and shoes, Chemlon, started the growth of Senec in the 20th century. Senec was gradually becoming also a center of chemical engineering industry. At present Senec is a district town with over 85 thousand people. Its life is rich in cultural and sport events. The most significant town monument is the renaissance Manor house, where the museum is now and gothic church. Near the Manor house there is an old park with an open-air museum of folk architecture. At the edge of the town there are small detached family houses. It is possible to see them from the style they were built that they are old, but also kept in a very good condition. As you travel towards the town center the houses are getting bigger, with beautiful wooden roofs, attics and terraces. The biggest houses are around the square in the center of the town, all decorated in renaissance and baroque style. But the most beautiful part of Senec is the gothic castle and it´s church. Senec is not only a historical city. It is also an important road, rail, air and river transport junction. Senec also houses the…

As a person’s age advances, the skin loses natural cells that promote elasticity and help maintain youthful look. Collagen, known to be a form of protein that holds and tightens the skin underneath, slowly decreases with age. Hence when you reach the age of forty, you notice that your skin starts to sag and form wrinkles. Even the hair and nails suffer from this gradual loss of collagen. The lips, most especially, also become less plump and the usual pout in most women is gone when they reach fifty.…

I 'm writing about my Grandma's old home place when I was growing up. I would always spend the whole the summer with her. She has a nice old antique farm house on 10 acres of land. She would always have three huge gardens plus blackberries, grapevines, figs bushes and a persimmon tree. She always made jellies, jams, puddings, cakes. She was a jack of all trades. It's a special place for me and I hold it very close to my heart. The house was green with black shutters, big covered front porch, big out building where she kept all her farming equipment. She had four tillers, two riding mowers a push mower and all of her hand tools plus she had a big chef size oven cause she did wedding cakes for people.…

The play “Our Town” explores the lives of people (primarily two families) living in a small and quiet American town in the 1900’s. In the first act entitled “Daily life”, the narrator did a good job of guiding the audience’s imagination to set up the ideas of a town in the early 1900’s. The lighting and sound cues made that very successful. The lighting was on cue and was very good at setting the scenes (i.e. brighter for morning sunrise). Realistic sets and props were minimal but, the performers pantomimed the majority of the play. The performers did a good job of conveying the imagery use of cooking, opening doors, and eating food. The performers were so believable that your imagination wasn’t very hard to use because things came to sight as if it was really on stage. The costumes of the performers set the age of the play and made you believe that you were in an earlier day and age. In act one, you follow the lives of the Gibbs family and the Webb family. Dr. Gibbs appears hardworking and is soft-spoken. Mrs. Gibbs is good in portraying that her husband is overworked and should take a vacation. Rebecca is George’s little sister. George seems scared or nervous in the delivery of his lines. There is many long pauses before he speaks as if he has forgotten his lines. He wasn’t enthusiastic at all. George seems not to understand or express the character's motivation. In the Webb family, Mr. Webb is great in the delivery of his lines. Mrs. Webb portrays a strict but loving mother. Emily Webb their daughter is very bright and hopeful. Wally Webb is her younger brother. When Emily and George are talking to each other at their windows, he seems to forget his words. Without a stellar Emily, the emotional potential is lost. The cast seems as if it was dead before act three of the funeral. Act two is about love and marriage. This scene reflects the love between George and Emily. In act two, Emily rises as the star of the play. She is very clear in her words and motivated.…
