My First Valentine
MY FIRST VALENTINE'S DAY Valentine's Day is the day when people show their affection for another person by sending anonymous cards, flowers, or chocolate with messages of love. It is also the most romantic day of the year for lovers. In contrast, the first valentine I spent with my present boyfriend three years ago was not really romantic. It has become the most interesting and wonderful anniversary that my boyfriend and I have never forgotten. My boyfriend's name is Tung. We studied together in high school and had been friend for three years. When we graduated, a friend of mine, Ngoc Thao, told me that she likes him, but she was very shy to ask him a date. Consequently, I helped her to contact with him. Tung, Thao, and I usually went out together, but Tung neither talked to Thao nor looked at her. Finally, he admitted that he loved me and asked me to be his girlfriend. Therefore, it was our first Valentine's Day after we had started going out with him for four months. I fully expected this day, for this is the first time I went out with my boy friend on Valentine's Day. Actually, I used to have some boyfriend, yet we usually broke up quickly, so I always stayed at home on the Valentine before. On that day, Tung came to my house with a huge bouquet of roses. He gave it to me and hugged me. I was very happy. Then he took me to Mandarine Restaurant. The restaurant is very beautiful and romantic, and the food is delicious, so everybody would like to come here. It is not easy to have a table in the Valentine, but my boyfriend has booked ones before. We ate steak under the light of candles. There was a singer who was playing the piano and singing Only Love. Everything seemed wonderful. Suddenly the door of the restaurant opened, and a couple came into the restaurant. We recognized that they were our chemistry teacher and physical teacher in high school. I did not know what to do, so I bent my head down and hoped that they would not see us. But they also

I woke up bright and early which was a little unusual. I got up and walked into the kitchen because i could hear the whole family in there. I walked in to be greeted by a wonderful smell of bacon and eggs, i knew this smell because there was a breakfast shop right by the old bridge. I watched the family go on with their business. The girl soon walked over to me, sat down and started to pet me. Later on they brought their plates piled high with food to the table. I followed them and watched them eat while they watched TV. The story of St. Valentine is one of true sacrifice. During a time when there was an emperor named Claudius who persecuted the Christian church, Valentine was a Roman Priest. The emperor also had an edict that prohibited the marriage of young people. This was because Claudius believed that unmarried soldiers fought better than married soldiers because married soldiers had to worry about his family’s security if he died fighting. So, being a little rebellious of this ridiculous law, Valentine decided to marry a soldier and young woman who were deeply in love.…

The following day, he called me and we talked for hours. I fell in love with his sweet and beautiful voice instantly. We continued conversing over the phone for about four months before deciding to go out somewhere together. We arranged to meet at the Kaw Yam Mu Poe lay Park near the river. After meeting up, we talked endlessly for what seemed like hours until we had nothing more to say. We sat in silence and stared at the water. I still remember the past in the friend’s birthday party. He took my hand and looked me in the eyes and asked me if I would be willing to give my heart to him. I was completely stunned at the question. I knew I loved him and wanted to be with him, but I was too nervous, and I have never had love before. I don’t understand much about love and I felt that I'm not ready for love yet. Hence, I said honestly, "I'm not ready." His face of happiness turned to sadness and he stopped talking. He dropped my hand from his and…
