My Experience with Dyslexia

What is dyslexia? Dyslexia is a neurobiological condition. It is the common cause of reading, writing, and spelling difficulties. My mom, my brother, and my sister are dyslexic. Dyslexia is also a hereditary condition; so therefore, I consider the ability to write as a blessing, and I enjoy it as well. I like to write for many reasons. Some of the reasons I like to write are because, writing can be challenging, beneficial, and stress relieving. The number one reason I like to write is because it can be very challenging. There is the challenge of finding the right topic to write about. There is the challenge of finding all of the information you may need to support your topic; which could take hours and sometimes even days of your time. Once you have all the information you may need comes the biggest challenge; the challenge of organizing the paper. I enjoy a good challenge though. I always have. I also feel writing can be very beneficial for a couple of reasons. One reason is because of the knowledge you gain. No matter what topic you choose to write on, you always have the benefit of learning something new about the topic even if you know it very well. Writing is a critically important skill to succeeding in life; so therefore, you benefit from writing when seeking employment. Employers look at writing as a key skill when hiring. Last but surely not least, I like to write because it helps me relieve some of my stress. Life can be very stressful at times, and when I can’t take it anymore, I grab my journal. For example, say I wake up and immediately start off having a bad day. The alarm clock didn’t go off, I get stuck in traffic, I spill my coffee all over my blouse, I’m already late for class because the alarm didn’t go off and traffic was so bad, and I sit down only to realize that I don’t even have my book I need for class.
