Negative Effects of Frequently Playing Video Games. Video games, a product of technological advances, have become the preferred recreation for many people especially for children and young adults. Despite, its contribution to the development of various skills, such as the use of computers and the speed or reaction time, frequently playing video games poses negative effects on people's lives. Addiction to video games, health problems, and changes in children's behaviors are some of the negative effects of frequently playing video games. First of all, video games can become an addiction for many children or young adults. This addiction makes children get bad grades in school because they spend a lot of time playing, so they do not study and do not do their homework. Children or young adults that become addicted to video games do not go outside to play because they spend almost all their time in front of the television or computer screens playing video games. Children or young adults, who become addicted to video games, tend to have bad relationships because they prefer to spend more time playing video games instead of spending time with their family or friends. Second, playing video games excessively can affect the health of children and young adults. Obesity is one of the most common health problems faced by most of the children who play video games excessively because they tend to sit for long and not have their body in physical activity. Also, watching a television or computer screen for a long time can cause vision problems, so a child will end up wearing glasses for life. Backaches are also commonly experienced by addicts to video games because they sit in one place and in one position for long hours. Finally, besides creating addiction and causing health problems, playing video games excessively can change children's behaviors.
